The Cavs and  All NBA guard Donovan Mitchell have reached an agreement on a new contract extension reportedly with $273 million dollars over 4 years per ESPN.com. In his 4 years in Cleveland since being acquired in a trade with the Utah Jazz, Mitchell has led the Cavaliers to play playoffs each year and has been named an All Star in all 4 years. He has averaged 26.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and  5.3 assists per game in his Cavs tenure.

The Cavaliers saw their season come to end on Memorial Day losing to the Knicks 130 to 93 at Rocket Arena in Cleveland. New York completed the 4 game sweep and will represent the Eastern Conference in the NBA Finals. Karl-Anthony Towns led N.Y. with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Jalen Brunson added 15 points and 5 assists and was named the Eastern Conference Finals MVP. Donovan Mitchell paced the Cavs with a game high 31 points.

The Pro Football Hall Of Fame game is set for 2026. The Arizona Cardinals will battle the Carolina Panthers on Thursday, August 6 at Tom Benson HOF Stadium at 8p.m. “Both of these teams are eager to come to Canton to open their season and to celebrate members of the Class of 2026 who meant so much to their organizations,” said Jim Porter, president & CEO of the Hall of Fame.

In a hallway at the Mount Carmel Hospital in the Columbus suburb of Grove City last week, a patient grabbed a hold of a security guard’s gun while still in the holster, and fired it once. No one was injured. The bullet it a wall. The security guard did suffer minor injuries, and the patient faces charges.

Ohio State’s 2025 season came to an end at the hands of the Miami Hurricanes in the Cotton Bowl 24-14. OSU spotted Miami a 14-0 lead at halftime and got to within 17–14 in the 4th quarter but could not complete the comeback. So the Buckeyes end the season with consecutive losses to Indiana in the Big Ten Championship and Miami in the College Football Playoff.

PLAIN LOCAL SCHOOLS RELEASE… Pending approval by the Plain Local Schools Board of Education at its December 22, 2025 meeting, Superintendent Brent May will recommend Matt Dennison as the next Head Varsity Football Coach at GlenOak High School. Dennison brings more than 25 years of coaching experience to GlenOak, most recently serving as Head Football Coach and Athletic Director at Canton South High School.

The Browns lost to the worst team in football yesterday, falling at home 31-29 to Tennessee as they botched a potential game tying 2-point conversion in the last minute. Cleveland also fumbled once and had a punt blocked. The Titans put up the most points they’ve scored all season as Tony Pollard ran for 161 yards and 2 touchdowns. Rookie QB- Shedeur Sanders, making his 3rd start for Cleveland, went toe-to-toe with Titans rookie QB- Cam Ward who was the number #1 overall pick in the NFL Draft.

My Next DAY OSU Thoughts By Kenny Roda 12-7-25 Horrible play calling, it reminded me of the loss to Michigan last year, especially in the red zone and yes, the final score of that loss was 13-10. It’s very concerning to me that two weeks in a row, in the two biggest games of the year, the offense has gotten off to a slow start and actually turned the ball over twice on Julian Sayin interceptions.

Indiana beat Ohio State 13 to 10 in the Big Ten Championship game to win the Conference Title and claim the number one overall seed in the College Football Playoff. Fernando Mendoza’s 17 yard touchdown pass to Elijah Sarratt in the third quarter proved to be the difference. Mendoza, considered the front runner to win the Heisman Trophy, finished the game with 222 yards, passing with the one touchdown and one interception.
