If you like your chicken nuggets with a little extra heat, McDonald’s has some good news. The fast-food chain is bringing back its Spicy Chicken McNuggets for a limited time. The popular menu item returns to participating U.S. restaurants nationwide in September. McDonald’s is also bringing back Mighty Hot Sauce, giving fans another way to turn up the heat. The Spicy Chicken McNuggets return September 1 at participating McDonald’s locations across the country.

Fayetteville State football gets its 2026 season underway Saturday night with a familiar opponent and plenty of expectations. The Broncos will host Shaw University at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at Luther “Nick” Jeralds Stadium in Fayetteville. The game starts a three-game homestand for Fayetteville State. The Broncos enter the season ranked third in the CIAA preseason poll, behind Virginia Union and Johnson C. Smith. Shaw, meanwhile, was picked 10th in the conference.

Fayetteville cut the ribbon on Wednesday, Aug. 26, on refurbished tennis and pickleball courts at Tokay Park. According to a release from the city, the $744,382 overhaul transformed six worn tennis courts into three tennis courts and 10 pickleball courts at 328 Hamilton Street. Community Development Block Grant money from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development paid for the work.

The North Carolina State Board of Elections rejected an early voting site in Spring Lake last Thursday, Aug. 20. The town now has no polling spot for the Nov. 3 election, while all seven early voting sites in Cumberland County sit in Fayetteville and Hope Mills. The state board approved early voting plans for 20 counties that couldn't reach unanimous agreement.
