The Grand Ole Opry is dedicating an evening to families built through adoption. On Nov. 6, the Opry will recognize National Adoption Month with two shows supporting Show Hope, the Franklin, Tennessee, nonprofit Mary Beth and Steven Curtis Chapman founded in 2003. Opry members Chapman, Carrie Underwood, Bill Anderson, and Mark Wills will take the stage at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., with Colony House and Louis York joining the lineup. From Oct. 28 through Nov.

Ella Langley continues to make her mark on country music! The rising star has reached another major career milestone, setting a record with her latest hit, “Loving Life Again.” The song recently climbed to No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart, giving Langley her sixth chart-topping single. Even more impressive, she reached that milestone faster than any other female artist or female-fronted act in the chart’s 36-year history. According to reports, Langley did it in just 99 weeks.

Greensky Bluegrass will carry its 25th-anniversary momentum into the new year with Winter Tour 2027, a 24-show, three-leg run that launches Jan. 14 at The Bellwether in Los Angeles and wraps March 19 at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium. Before the winter trek gets underway, the band will ring in 2027 with New Year's shows at Chicago's Salt Shed on Dec. 30–31, then head home to Kalamazoo, Michigan, for two nights at Wings Event Center on Jan. 1–2.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Reba, she has released I'm A Survivor – EP, her seventh music capsule, through MCA. The four-track set includes the official show theme version of “I'm A Survivor,” released for the first time. Phillip White and Shelby Kennedy wrote the song, which first appeared on McEntire's 2001 album Greatest Hits, Volume III: I'm A Survivor.

Reba McEntire’s Happy’s Place is honoring the late Dolly Parton with an emotional tribute that fits perfectly into the sitcom’s story about remembering loved ones who have passed. The NBC comedy’s Oct. 30 episode, “Skeletons in the Closet,” combines Halloween with Día de los Muertos, giving the cast a meaningful opportunity to celebrate the lives of people they have lost, including Parton, who died at age 80 in August after a brief battle with cancer.

Sir Patrick Stewart, the acclaimed actor known for his iconic roles in Star Trek and X-Men, has died at 86. News of Stewart’s death was confirmed in a statement shared on his official social media accounts on October 29. He died at his home in Los Angeles on October 28, surrounded by his wife, Sunny Ozell, family, and friends. The statement said he had been living with Alzheimer's disease and Lewy body dementia.

Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) opened a SparkLab on its campus in June 2026. Middle and high school students now have a place to build skills for tech jobs. It is the first SparkNC site on a community college campus. SparkNC is a STEM nonprofit. Students at the lab can work on cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, computer systems engineering, software development, and game development. Any Cumberland County Schools student can visit if their own school has no lab.

The Cumberland County Board of Commissioners voted 5-1 on Oct. 19 to send staff looking for up to five other sites for the Unhoused Support Center, per the Fayetteville Observer. The board also kept its contract with the Salvation Army for another year. For now, the project has no confirmed address. County staff expect it to open in early 2028. Commissioner Glenn Adams cast the only vote against the search.

The E.E. Smith High School Marching Band has hit its $100,000 fundraising goal. That means it can perform in the 2026 Chicago Thanksgiving Parade, ABC11 reported. The band, known as the "Magnificent Marching Machine," leaves for Chicago on Nov. 25 at 12:30 a.m. The campaign began back in September. Every dollar goes toward travel, food, lodging, and student activities on the trip. Booster support and local gifts brought in $72,000.
