BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- September is Childhood Obesity Awareness Month. “We’re probably very high on the list for childhood obesity,” said Dr. Sarah Mayfield, pediatrician and doctor of internal medicine with Norton Children’s Hospital. According to the CDC, approximately one out of five U.S. children and adolescents are obese. They also found that healthcare is more expensive for patients that are obese. Mayfield said implementing a better diet helps with weight.

STANTON, Ky. – One person is dead and three juveniles are injured after a reported ATV crash in Stanton on Tuesday. According to the Kentucky State Police, on Sept. 8 around 8 p.m., troopers received a call from Powell County dispatch requesting assistance with a fatal ATV collision near the 1500 block of Cat Creek Road.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The O’Charley’s location on Scottsville Road in Bowling Green is only one of many closing down after serving the community for many years. Owensboro and Hopkinsville are just to name a few that are also abruptly closing along with many others across the United States. On Wednesday, the restaurant had many orders before saying goodbye. The restaurant officially closes Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 8 p.m. What triggered the closings has not been released yet.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Wednesday marks seven days since John Adwell went missing in Cave City. Cave City Police Department and the 61-year-old’s family are urging the public for help. On Wednesday, Sept. 2, at 9 p.m., officials located video surveillance footage in the area of Gillenwater and First Street that depicts Adwell and another man in the far background. The video is extremely poor quality, but police do confirm the man in the video is Adwell, recognizing his walker and walking gait.

UPDATE: Sep. 9 at 4:30 p.m. GRAVES COUNTY, Ky. – On Wednesday, a Graves County District Court judge dismissed the grooming charge against Sadie Flores, a former Graves County Middle School teacher, according to WPSD. Judge Scott Robbins asserted that “he has heard no testimony that any type of sexual behavior or contact has occurred.” Full Report > UPDATE Aug.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Our latest WKU Player of the Week winner is soccer defender Abby Wiedermann! The Hilltoppers went 2-0 during their trip to Chicago this past week and the junior was a big reason for that. Wiedermann anchored the team’s back line, playing all 180 minutes for Western.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bowling Green Noon Lions Club is asking the community for help after some equipment went missing following Monday’s Run for Sight fundraiser race. Pam Elrod, the club administrator, says following the run, the Spirit Masters were instructed to fold up the water station equipment and set it out for someone to pick up.

According to Sheriff Bobby Jones with the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, since last month, detectives with the sheriff’s office’s Narcotics Division were investigating suspected drug trafficking. Authorities say on Sept. 5, a vehicle was speeding and swerving on Kentucky Highway 934.

PORTLAND, Tenn. – A man is charged with driving under the influence with a child in a vehicle after an investigation. The Portland Police Department says officers responded to West Knight Street after receiving a welfare check request on Sep. 1. The caller told police that a man was allegedly unconscious behind the wheel of a parked vehicle in front of a business. The vehicle was running, and the man’s foot was on the accelerator, according to the caller.
