WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): The morning commute features patchy fog and scattered showers. Visibility issues are not widespread, but they may affect some of our viewing area. Any lingering fog dies down later this morning, but rain will continue to fall through the day. A cold front did pass through recently, but it did not impact us much in terms of temperatures. Our area is much milder than usual for this time of the year, staying in the mid- to upper 60s.

OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – It’s been a transition day today around the region. We started off with very nice weather; there was plenty of sunshine and near record high temperatures. Today’s high of 80 at the Raleigh County Memorial Airport was only two degrees shy of the record of 82, which had been set in 1954. As the day went on, some clouds rolled into the area ahead of the first of two fronts that will bring massive changes to our weather over the next couple of days.

Fayetteville, WV (WOAY) – Bridge Day lasts just six hours on Saturday, but getting ready for it takes months. Tens of thousands of people will fill about 1.5 miles of Route 19, from Keller Avenue on the south side of the New River Gorge Bridge to Fayette Mine Road on the north. Kanawha County, WV (WOAY) – In a 7-to-1 vote today, the West Virginia Board of Education has formally decided that the existing funding formula for public schools is outdated and does not provide a thorough education. It’s in response to a lawsuit that argues that the state’s school aid formula fails to meet a requirement in the West Virginia Constitution that guarantees children a thorough and efficient education.

Glen Daniel, WV (WOAY): This Wednesday morning at the Liberty High School baseball field, a school bus flipped over and nobody was harmed. That’s because it was part of a training simulation where emergency personnel, school bus drivers, and students from the Beckley Academy of Careers and Technology all learned what to do in the event of a real crash.

Levi Cook (left) Cameron Yancy (right) West Virginia (WOAY) Two men are facing multiple charges following a traffic stop in Boone County. West Virginia State Police say troopers stopped a vehicle in the Danville area on October 12 after receiving a request to locate a reckless driver. During the investigation, troopers reportedly found marijuana, fentanyl, cocaine, and firearms.

Temperatures will rise into the upper 70s this afternoon while cloud cover slowly increases through the day. If you have outdoor plans before sunset, you should be able to get them done.
