Meena Menon is an independent journalist, researcher and former Bureau chief, The Hindu. She is currently a visting post-doctoral researcher at the Leeds Arts and Humanities Research Institute, Universityof Leeds, UK. In April 2024, she was awarded a PhD on social movements from the School of History, University of Leeds, UK. She is the author of the books, Riots and After in Mumbai (Sage/Yoda Press), Reporting Pakistan(Penguin Randomhouse), and has co-authored A Frayed History, the Journey of Cotton in India(Oxford University Press) and the Trail of the Girl Child (Books for Change). She is the recipient of several media fellowships and has been a journalist since 1984 working with different publications, including The Hindu, The Times of India, .Mid-day, United News of India and Bombay magazine.
