How to manage microstress in the modern workplace
A staggering 79 per cent of people experienced stress in the workplace in 2020. The causes were varied, but included long hours, difficult colleagues and financial stress. Smaller but no less significant incidents, known as microstressors, can also be a contributing factor for those struggling in the workplace. When isolated, as their name suggests, microstresses may appear to have a minor impact on our overall well being, but this does not mean that they don’t take a toll on your mind and body.
How to make homemade pasta: It's not as complicated as you might think
Sunday lunch in our house never consisted of the traditional Sunday roast. My mother is from Argentina and her parents are from Italy so Sunday for them involved pasta, a tradition which was carried down to our family. Mum recalls watching her grandmother spending hours at the kitchen table painstakingly rolling and cutting pasta before it was cooked, tossed in sauce, and served in a bowl on the table for everyone to help themselves.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Donald Glover will star in Mr. and Mrs. Smith series remake
Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Donald Glover will star in a new Amazon Prime Video series based on the 2005 film . Everyone remembers the movie, which starred Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt as a pair of married killers-for-hire who are assigned to assassinate each other, but mainly everyone remembers how it was marred in controversy due to Pitt and Jolie’s much-publicised affair (sorry, but team Aniston forever). Glover made the announcement via a story on his Childish Gambino Instagram page.
Everyone is talking about Timothée Chalamet's take on Edward Scissorhands
Timothee Chalamet as Edward Scissorhands’ son?! With Winona Ryder?? This is the only Super Bowl commercial you need to see. It may be an ad for Cadillac but their take on an Edward Scissorhands sequel — starring Timothée Chalamet as Edgar Scissorhands, Edward’s son, and the ever-glorious Winona Ryder reprising her role as Kim from Tim Burton’s 1990 movie — will bring tears to the eyes of any fans of the original once that music kicks in.

Where to eat, drink and explore in Collioure and Perpignan in the South of France
As the heat haze fades and the sun loungers get folded away, there is another side to the South of France - history-steeped streets, foodie finds and artistic heritage in Perpignan and Collioure. Here's the best way to enjoy off-season South of France. “When it rains, we close.” It’s certainly not a line you’d hear in Ireland, but when you’re standing in a square in the usually sunny South of France, this is clearly normal practice.

Currabinny Macroom Brown Soda Bread: The Challenge
I’m not one for following recipes; I’m more of a let’s see what I can make out of what ingredients I have in the fridge/cupboard kind of person. Interviewing James Kavanagh and William Murray about their new Currabinny cookbook though, required some prior cooking researching though and I’m always open to new challenges. The challenge was to cook their Macroom soda brown bread and their beetroot and seaweed hummus to and judge it against a one that they made.
Currabinny: In the kitchen with James Kavanagh and William Murray
There’s a welcoming homely feel from the second you walk into James Kavanagh and William Murray’s home. Mason jars filled with ingredients line the shelves in the living room space, beautiful crockery is sporadically stacked around the room and they have a cookbook collection to be envious of. The kitchen space is overflowing with herbs, spices and there’s some blackberries that William’s dad brought up from his home in Currabinny, County Cork in the fridge.
FORM: A new space that is bringing like-minded Irish artists together
Creativity can be both a challenge and a blessing. When you get it right, it can be hugely rewarding and encouraging and at other times it can cause stress, tears and a lot of heartache. Photographer Bríd O’Donovan felt the same and set about creating ways to open up collaboration in the industry. “As a creative you can be sat alone in your workspace, paralysed by fear and jealousy,” she reflects.
How Ireland is Coming Together to Support its Young Chefs
From a young age, we have someone to look up to be it a parent, sibling, grandparent or someone else. They take us under their wing, hold our hand into the classroom, show us the ropes and offer advice that we can take on board for our daily lives. Sadly, a mentor in the workplace isn’t as common as we would think.
I made pasta at home and it's not that complicated
I'm not sure I'll ever buy pasta again now that I know how easy homemade pasta is. Only two ingredients: flour and eggs. Sunday lunch in our house never consisted of the traditional Sunday roast. My mother is from Argentina and her parents are from Italy so Sunday for them involved pasta, a tradition which was carried down to our family.
Baking, filleting and soufflés: A three-hour kitchen experience in Glover's Alley
I would like to say I’m relatively good at cooking; I mean, I make fantastic homemade burgers and chips, delicious gnocchi – ok, I made them once about two years ago but my brother’s and sister-in-law are still talking about them – and I’ve got scrambling eggs down to a fine art. So when the opportunity arose to spend a morning in the kitchen at Glover’s Alley it was the perfect opportunity to showcase my skills.
Dear Dad: 'Thank you for always setting an example of learning to enjoy the journey'
In honour of Father's Day this week, we're celebrating the main men in our lives here at IMAGE HQ. Every day this week, we'll be sharing a letter penned to our fathers; sharing memories, love and just thanking them for being them. This is a Letter to My Dad. It’s almost 10 years to the day since you forgot to collect me from the airport after I arrived home from my stint of travelling.
Walk-in wardrobes and stand-alone bathtubs: the luxury of Adare Manor
Something catches my eye as I walk into our room at the Adare Manor. That is, something aside from the magnificent view through the period windows, walk-in wardrobe, ginormous bed and bedside tablets for all kinds of light mood settings – it’s not just ‘on and off’ here, folks. At the top of the walls, carved in gold lettering is the Latin phrase Quae Sursum Volo Videre. We’re told it means “I wish to see what is beyond”, and this makes perfect sense throughout our stay.

Weekend Getaway: Relax and Unwind at Inchydoney Island Hotel and Spa
“You’ll feel your shoulders drop as soon as you arrive,” a friend told me when I told her about my weekend plans to Inchydoney Island Lodge and Spa a coastal retreat on Cork’s western shores. It makes for a pleasing thought. This was our second attempt to visit thanks to beloved Storm Ophelia, much to the dismay of my guest but better late than never as the saying goes, yet as the heavens opened once we crossed into county Cork we started to wonder if the weather gods were against our getaway.
Easter entertaining – Scandinavian style | IMAGE.ie
The cynical part of me, the one wary of postmodernism’s cannibalism of its own cultural values, notes how convenient it is that we, in western society have ditched many parts of tradition that make life less craic, while grasping firmly onto (if not wildly inflating) those that allow us to scoff a lot of delicious food. Easter is one of the sharpest examples – the most chocolate-based opportunity to bunk off work.

A Weekend Away: The Hotel In Lisbon You MUST Visit | IMAGE.ie
Lisbon. The European city du jour, luring millennials with its affordable charms and buzzy nightlife. Having read so much about its youthful demographic, decorative architecture, patterned tiles, vintage trams and delectable pastéis de nata, I thought I’d have this hipster magnet sussed instantly. But, with the sun beating down on its famously steep, labyrinthine streets as I battle with a suitcase in one hand and GoogleMaps in the other, I’m feeling pretty clueless.
