Group seeking buy-in for Elmsdale bowling alley
Terry MacFarlane would like to tinker with his tractor in his garage but there's no room. His garage is packed with more than 100 multi-coloured candlepin bowling balls, special desks used for recording bowling scores, and plastic gutters that guided countless balls away from the pins at a former bowling alley on Nova Scotia's Cape Sable Island. MacFarlane took up bowling when he retired, but the lanes in Elmsdale, where he used to roll his strikes and spares, closed about a decade ago.
782 area code in Nova Scotia and P.E.I. used by less than 1%
Nova Scotians and Prince Edward Islanders started ten-digit dialling nearly two years ago to accommodate the 782 area code, but so far only about 80 phone numbers use the new code. If your Halifax number starts with 782, you are one of just 16 such numbers in the city. If you're in Charlottetown, only you and two others have a 782. The rest are spread throughout the region. The other 99.00002 per cent of us still use 902.

The tractor trailer is sitting across both lanes of traffic and traffic is being diverted on Highway 4 just around the two exits. Cst. John Wavrychuk says crews will likely have to unload the cargo and flip the tractor trailer over before they can reopen the highway. He expects that could take several hours.
Atlantic Beer Festival too pricey for some beer brewers
Several New Brunswick micro-breweries were absent from this year's Atlantic Beer Festival in Moncton this weekend. Jamie Melanson is the owner of Bore City Brewing in Moncton. Even though the Atlantic Beer festival attracts as many as 3000 suds drinkers, Melanson says the price to participate is just too high. The micro-brewery makes its own beer, but to take part in the festival, it has to buy it back from NB Liquor for tax purposes.
