Melissa Harris’s Biography

Melissa Harris joined The Chicago Tribune as a business columnist in 2009 after nearly five years as a metro reporter at The Baltimore Sun. Prior to joining The Sun, she was a metro reporter at The Orlando Sentinel. She has traveled to Haiti twice on assignment and crisscrossed the country covering everything from the Virginia Tech shootings to the Miss America pageant. She is a graduate of Northwestern and Johns Hopkins universities, and a two-time finalist for The Livingston Award, honoring outstanding reporting by journalists under the age of 35.
