Benchmarking Preventive Care Medicaid Rates to Private Payers
Introduction US states have struggled to expand access to primary care for Medicaid members, and the conventional wisdom is that low reimbursement rates are a deterrent to clinician participation.1 To date, studies of Medicaid payment rates have focused on fee-for-service (FFS) rates, even though 85% of Medicaid members have managed care coverage.1 Moreover, states’ ability to evaluate the adequacy of their rates is constrained by limited information on other payers.
From psychometrics to partnerships: Broadening what counts as validity evidence
The central role of assessment in health professions education (HPE) is to support defensible decision making about learners across the continuum. The validation of assessments is vital to planning and reviewing assessment quality, to scrutinising decisions drawn from the data collected and to demonstrating that their use is appropriate in each context.
What could we learn from team sports? Cohesion as a lens to understand research teams in health professions education
1 INTRODUCTION Research in health professions education (HPE) is increasingly conducted within collaborative teams.1 Yet, despite this collective orientation, we know surprisingly little about how to intentionally build, support and sustain high-functioning research teams. The success of interdisciplinary teams depends on more than simply assembling capable individuals; if team performance were merely a sum of its parts, few research collaborations would flounder.
KATSEYE’s ‘Pinky Up’ is built for a stadium
KATSEYE is back! Their newest release, “Pinky Up,” premiered with an official music video on April 9, a day before the group performed it at Coachella. Currently, the top YouTube comment on the music video reads, “These girls trained so hard just to shake their a- – in the parking lot.” 11,000 other people agreed with that enough to leave a like. However, if we turn to the comments on their Coachella performance, there is a different tune.
Charli xcx’s ‘Wuthering Heights’ soundtrack is a hit
In November of last year, Charli xcx shocked a lot of people with the release of the song “House” featuring The Velvet Underground’s John Cale. Merely three days after that release, she dropped “Chains of Love” and announced her album, “Wuthering Heights.” The album was made for Emerald Fennell’s movie adaptation of the 1847 novel after Charli xcx received a promising business inquiry, looking for something to move on past her “Brat” era.
Breastfeeding in the United States: Strategies to Support Families and Achieve National Goals
Breastfeeding supports lifelong health and development for both infants and mothers. It is associated with lower risks of chronic disease, improved maternal health outcomes, and potential health care cost savings. While most families in the United States begin breastfeeding, many are unable to continue as long as they intend due to systemic challenges such as limited parental leave, inconsistent access to lactation support, and inadequate workplace accommodations.
Navigating the research landscape: How paradigms shape health professions education research
1 INTRODUCTION “Maps are not neutral. Maps are not, inherently, “true.” Maps have points of view. Maps carry cultural bias. Maps tell stories.” -Elizabeth Alexander.1 Within health professions education's (HPE) interdisciplinary research context,2-5 scholars use a variety of research approaches to explore important topics, to generate meaningful solutions and to deepen our understanding of how to train health care providers for future practice.
A taxonomy of research relationships
1 INTRODUCTION Research is fundamentally a human endeavour. Considering research as a social activity means acknowledging that human relationships can come into play in how we conduct research and engage with other researchers. In the process of conducting research, we often banter with colleagues to help refine our ideas, build research teams to execute studies, respond to feedback from journal and grant reviewers and publicly share our work at scientific conferences and symposia.

Medicine in the Popular Press: The Influence of the Media on Perceptions of Disease
In an age of increasing globalization and discussion of the possibility of global pandemics, increasing rates of reporting of these events may influence public perception of risk. The present studies investigate the impact of high levels of media reporting on the perceptions of disease.
