The response of Dual-Leucine Zipper Kinase (DLK) to nocodazole: evidence for a homeostatic cytoskeletal repair mechanism

|
By Laura DeVault, Chase Mateusiak, John Palucki, Michael D. Brent
| BioRxiv
Abstract Genetic and pharmacological perturbation of the cytoskeleton enhances the regenerative potential of neurons. This response requires Dual-leucine Zipper Kinase (DLK), a neuronal stress sensor that is a central regulator of axon regeneration and degeneration. The damage and repair aspects of this response are reminiscent of other cellular homeostatic systems, suggesting that a cytoskeletal homeostatic response exists.

Abstract Injury to the cytoskeleton enhances the regenerative potential of axons. This response requires dual leucine zipper kinase (DLK), a neuronal stress sensor that is a central regulator of axon regeneration and degeneration. The damage and repair aspects of this response are reminiscent of other cellular homeostatic systems, suggesting that a cytoskeletal homeostatic system may exist. In this study, we propose a framework for understanding DLK mediated neuronal cytoskeletal homeostasis.

| The National Law Review Verified
Monday, June 21, 2021 Tennessee healthcare providers will soon have a very different certificate of need (CON) law to consider as they plan new facilities and services. Tennessee’s legislature and governor recently enacted Public Chapter 557, which codifies the new Health Services and Planning Act of 2021. Effective October 1, 2021, the act changes the substantive requirements for CON approval, as well as the process an applicant must traverse to obtain a CON.
