Michael Erard’s Biography
I got my first whiff of ink at 14 years old, when I had a job at the Haverhill Gazette. Since then I've freelanced for the NY Times, Wired, Science, Texas Monthly, the Texas Observer, and many other publications. I'm the author of two books about language, the most recent of which won the 2013 Maine Literary Award for Nonfiction. I'm also raising funds to start a digital publication for long-form journalism about language and life.
