Solving Everest’s Mounting Poop Problem
When climbing enthusiasts take a stab at the highest mountain in the world, thinking about their bodily waste is probably low on their list of priorities. This season, porters working on Everest schlepped 28,000 pounds of human waste — the equivalent weight of two fully-grown elephants — from base camp down to a nearby dumping site, according to the Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee (SPCC), a local NGO tasked with cleaning up Everest.

Wednesday's school shooting at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, has left the country with a host of unanswered questions. If You Thought The Mooch Was Bad, Wait Until You Meet Stephen Miller
It’s a wonder the White House hasn’t yet installed a popcorn machine in the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room. Between former press secretary Sean Spicer’s bumbling tenure and former communications director Anthony Scaramucci’s profanity-laden foolishness, the White House briefings became must-see TV. But with Scaramucci’s firing last week, the position of communications director has been left unattended. Who will take up the leading role in Washington’s number one PR circus?
4 Things I Learned About Jews This Summer
When I was first told that my internship program was placing me at the Forward, I was apprehensive, to say the least. What would I, an atheist college student from Iowa whose experience with Jews was almost non-existent, have to offer to a Jewish publication that I had never heard of, never mind read? What kind of informed opinions could I give when my background was so decidedly un-Jewish, and when I was so unfamiliar with the people and culture about whom I was writing?

George W. Bush Speechwriter Slams ‘Toxic’ Trump In Washington Post Op-Ed
Washington Post columnist and former speechwriter for President George W. Bush, Michael Gerson slammed President Donald Trump for his moral ambiguity as this latest scandal involving his son’s contact with a Russian lawyer unfolds. ‘Game Of Thrones’ Creator Puts A Dystopian Spin On Israel-Palestine
After a long wait, “Game of Thrones” will finally air its seventh season on July 16th. And it’s about damn time. If you’re anything like me, these last few months have been dull, boring, and far too dragon-less. Those spring Sunday’s spent gathered with friends and family, waiting with morbid excitement for beloved characters to meet gruesome ends have been replaced by the monotony of April showers and May flowers. But in just 25 days (who’s counting?) this vast wasteland will find some purpose.
New York Times Op-Ed Asks: ‘Is Your God Dead?’
In what read like a homily inspired by an acid trip, Emory University philosophy professor George Yancy channeled the likes of Friedrich Nietzsche and Abraham Joshua Heschel in a rambling but strangely moving New York Times op-ed published Monday. The essay, titled “Is Your God Dead?”, asks the reader to look at one’s own beliefs and find God not in grand houses of worship, but in the homeless person whose pleas we ignore as we move about our daily lives.

Ron DeSantis, R-Fla, whether it Republicans or Democrats had been practicing just three minutes before the shooting started.
Code Of Ethics Sparks Debate On Politics In Israeli Classrooms
A new code of ethics commissioned by Israeli education minister Naftali Bennett, considered a rival of prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, would bar Israeli universities from discussing politics in the classroom. Meant to protect students from political coercion, the code offers disciplinary action against lecturers or professors who express political views while teaching. The only exception would be when politics is directly related to the course.

Elie Wiesel’s Son Remembers His Father’s Love And Compassion
As the first anniversary of the death of Elie Wiesel approaches, his only child, Elisha Wiesel, reflected on the gifts his father left for him in an essay published by Jewish Week. The essay, in which Wiesel also revealed his conflicts with the acclaimed writer (and former staffer of the Forverts) and Holocaust survivor as an adolescent, describes Wiesel as a father whose patience and confidence still influences his son.
“Bad Memes” Provoke Controversy at Harvard
Harvard rescinded acceptance offers for least 10 incoming freshman after the students shared sexually explicit and racist images over private Facebook group chats, images that made fun of sexual assault, child death and the Holocaust. The incident has left students, faculty and figures on both sides of the political spectrum divided.
