Mise v kolonii - Michael Mammay
Váleční hrdinové před důchodem nejsou obvykle odvoláváni a posíláni do dalekých končin galaxie kvůli rutinnímu vyšetřování. Proto když plukovník Carl Butler přijme žádost svého starého a vlivného přítele, ví, že jde o něco zásadního – něco, o čem neví zdaleka všechno.
Blindside
. (Planetside, bk. 5). Mar. 2026. 384p. ISBN 9780063433793. pbk. $18.99. SCIENCE FICTION COPY ISBN Carl Butler made plenty of enemies when he was a colonel, but he has developed a genius for making more since he retired. He still has his uncanny talent for pulling solutions out of nowhere, along with an unfortunate knack for not recognizing that he’s in trouble until he’s already there. So he doesn’t see that the sob story he has fallen for is an elaborate trap until it’s much too late to get out.

The World Wasn't Ready for You
Black Mirror meets Get Out in this gripping story collection reminiscent of the work of Octavia E. Butler, which deftly blends science fiction, horror, and fantasy to examine issues of race, class, and prejudice—an electrifying, oftentimes heartbreaking debut from an extraordinary new voice. Justin C. Key has long been obsessed with monsters. Reading R. L. Stine’s Goosebumps as a kid, he imagined himself battling monsters and mayhem to a triumphant end.

The Weight of Command
Lieutenant Kiera Markov is a scout platoon leader for a peacekeeping force on the remote planet of Tanara, where little has happened for decades, and the only mission is to keep the lithium flowing up the space elevator to feed the galaxy’s incessant demand. But when an unprecedented attack kills the entirety of the brigade’s leadership, the untested lieutenant suddenly finds herself in command.
The Misfit Soldier de Michael Mammay
The Misfit Soldier
Ocean’s Eleven meets John Scalzi in this funny, action-filled stand-alone sci-fi adventure from the author of Planetside, in which a small team of misfit soldiers takes on a mission that could change the entire galaxy. Sergeant Gastovsky - Gas to everyone but his superior officers - never wanted to be a soldier. Far from it. But when a con goes wrong and he needs a place to lay low for a while, he finds himself wearing the power armor of the augmented infantry.
The Misfit Soldier
Sgt. “Gas” Gastrovsky is the kind of entrepreneurial, well-connected NCO who appears in lots of military-fiction, whether sf or not. Gas knows everyone, everyone owes him favors, and he seems more interested in his side hustles than being a soldier. But he’s all in for the soldiers in his squad, and when a man is left behind on a planet he’s just as devoted to getting him back.

COLONYSIDE by Michael Mammay Read by RC Bray
Narrator R.C. Bray's commanding voice perfectly suits this story of a disgraced colonel and a missing CEO's daughter. Carl Butler hoped to live out his days on an ignored planet but agrees to take on what should be a simple case: finding a missing daughter. He heads to a new colony, where he is soon on familiar ground as he encounters explosions and a corrupt government. Bray's narration features strong character differentiation.

The fate of the galaxy shouldn't depend on one old soldier — unless he's perfect for the job. When the first sentence of a novel contains a curse word, the author is issuing a challenge: Love this book or hate it. Planetside, the debut novel by Michael Mammay, is an easy book to love. So is protagonist Carl Butler, a semi-retired colonel called back into full military service by an old friend offering a sweet deal.
