Lifetimes of Punishment: The Imperial Feedback Loop of Anti‐Asian Violence
Introduction What is anti-Asian violence? Since 2020, in the public imagination and in much scholarly research, there has been a focus on anti-Asian hate crimes, which are a legal category of individualized acts of violence that occur due to racial prejudice with intent to harm (Chen 2000; Jeung et al. 2021; Nopper 2021). Beyond the framing of “hate,” this article is about state-perpetuated forms of anti-Asian violence that can only be understood within the context of broader U.S. imperialism.
Nonactivated and IL-7 cultured CD19-specific CAR T cells are enriched in stem cell phenotypes and functionally superior
Adoptive cellular therapy with CD19-specific chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells has revolutionized the treatment of B cell malignancies.
Improved MHC II epitope prediction - a step towards personalized medicine
Numerous neoepitope-based vaccination strategies are in testing for clinical use in the treatment of cancer. Rapid identification of immunostimulatory neoantigen targets hastens neoantigen vaccine development. Papers recently published in Nature Biotechnology describe two independent machine-learning-based algorithms that demonstrate improved identification of MHC class II-binding peptides. Herein, we outline the benefits of these algorithms and their implications for future immunotherapies.
Characterizing the anti-tumor response of T cell receptor gene-modified invariant natural killer T cells
Human invariant NKT cells represent a distinct lymphocyte population that co-express an invariant antigen receptor and NK surface markers. Classic NKT cells express a restricted T cell receptor that recognizes lipids, such as α-Galactosylceramide (α-GalCer), in the context of CD1d.
