Antiestrogen Therapy Increases Plasticity and Cancer Stemness of Prolactin-Induced ERα+ Mammary Carcinomas
AbstractAlthough antiestrogen therapies are successful in many patients with estrogen receptor alpha-positive (ERα+) breast cancer, 25% to 40% fail to respond. Although multiple mechanisms underlie evasion of these treatments, including tumor heterogeneity and drug-resistant cancer stem cells (CSC), further investigations have been limited by the paucity of preclinical ERα+ tumor models.

Michael Shea: On tax 'reform'
Although I am now retired, I studied, practiced and taught tax law for 35 years. During that period I have watched the relentless changes in the Internal Revenue Code to strip wealth from working and middle-class Americans and transfer it to the already-rich. Some changes have been subtle, some egregious and blatant, but they have all succeeded in getting the top 1 percent to where they are today, owning 24 percent of the nation's wealth.

The Horror on the 33 - Nightmare Magazine
Of those grim events I find it difficult, even at this late date, to write. Strictly speaking, they did not even involve me, but Knavle, my dear friend, from whose voluminous correspondence alone I know of them. But we are close in soul, Knavle and I, and through his accounts, hellishly circumstantial as they were, I can say that I too, in a manner, lived those moments of horror with him. When that first dread encounter befell him, Knavle had been a wino for almost exactly a year.
Op-ed: Rooftop solar's worth? Don't forget the value of saving the Earth
In meeting rooms, council chambers, and at the Utah State Legislature, the question is being asked; What is the "value" of rooftop solar? When rooftop solar systems generate more power than a home is using, the electricity goes back into the grid and the utility buys it. This process is called net-metering. The value of that electricity is now the topic of important energy pricing debates. The higher dollar value of solar energy, the more affordable rooftop solar systems are to Utah families.
Opinion: Catholic health care’s conscientious objections appropriate in Canadian health system
With laws in place allowing assisted dying, Canadians must also understand that Catholic health-care providers operate under local agreements that respect their ability to abide by their faith and ethical traditions, writes Michael Shea. Op-ed: Hatch questions program that helps fuel Utah's solar boom
If a government initiative helped Utah to launch thousands of new jobs, attract millions of dollars in new business and become a national leader in a fast-growing industry — all in less than seven years — would you consider it a success?
Album Review - The Edge of Paradise "Immortal Waltz"
It's rare for an album to make me smirk - I'm talking that sleazy, sly smirk that you get when you're doing something bad and you just don't care. That's what this album did for me. LA based quintet The Edge of Paradise brought that smirk to my face with their album Immortal Waltz. Fronted by the scarlet haired siren Margarita Monet, the band delivers a unique blend of hard rock/metal and crooner style vocals.
