Why Marquette University prioritizes academic integrity
More than ever before, our society needs leaders with a strong ethical compass and a high degree of integrity to move us toward a more just future. Much of that responsibility lies with college students, who will go on to make a positive impact on the lives of others and ultimately shape our world into what we want it to become. At the same time, students today are under tremendous pressure in dealing with an ongoing pandemic and new modes of learning.
Managing Trauma in the Time of COVID-19
Michael R. Lovell & Emily Mazzulla RealClearHealth April 28, 2020 The onset of coronavirus around the world has been sudden and overwhelming. In the United States, life as usual became life at its most unusual – lived from inside apartments and houses with minimal personal contact with the outside world. "Is the water safe to drink?" The ancient question evokes anxieties that are deeply embedded in the human psyche, but have been long forgotten by modern Americans. Yet recent crises in Flint, Mich., and other places have rekindled an earlier era's ambivalent relationship with drinking water. When the Pilgrims arrived at Plymouth Rock, for example, they shunned the pristine New England water sources and quickly began construction of a brewhouse.

Pope Francis' visit to the Unites States this week will bring people in our country into contact with a uniquely gifted leader who is breathing new life into worldwide Catholicism. But to truly understand this "people's pope," it helps to consider some of his deepest influences — in particular, the ways and values of the Society of Jesus, the order into which he was welcomed as a novitiate in 1958 and ordained 11 years later.
