Convection In Pulsating Stars
Abstract Stellar models using mixing length convection in a linear calculation show a red edge to the instability strip. The models are of a 6 solar mass, 1 x 10 ergs/sec luminosity, King 4A composition, cepheid variable star, for various values of effective temperature, Te, and mixing length parameter, a. Results are obtained with an assumed instantaneous adjustment of the convective flux to changes in the local stellar conditions.

Ekspertgruppe: Klare mål vil mindske mænds ulighed i sundhed

VT Science Corner: Mosquito-borne diseases, climate, and mathematics
For those of us in Southwest Virginia, mosquitoes are a nuisance to outdoor activities and only rarely cause greater concern. But for over half the world’s population, mosquitoes are a major public health threat, transmitting pathogens that infect hundreds of millions of people and cause over a million deaths each year. One mosquito-borne disease has been straining public health systems across the Americas with greater frequency in recent years: dengue.

Every Film Featuring the Minions, Ranked Worst to Best
How the Minions became a staple of our culture will someday be a thesis for postgraduate study. On that day, maybe we’ll actually understand why the Minions are a cultural and financial juggernaut. After the debut of Despicable Me, the little, blue jean overall and goggle-wearing pill creatures took over the cultural world. They even managed to do so while speaking their own unique Minion language.

The Best Pixar Movies that Adults Will Enjoy, Ranked
Pixar is so well established as the top of the computer animation pedestal that they've become their biggest competition, always having to outdo their previously acclaimed work. Their first film, Toy Story (1995), changed the landscape of animation and movies. Pixar has won 11 Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature. Two of those winners were nominated for Best Picture (Up and Toy Story 3). They have won seven Academy Awards in other categories, too.

Black Panther Wakanda Forever: Welcome to the MCU Age of Mutants
Anticipation is high for the next addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe on the big screen when Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is released on November 11, 2022. The promotional pitch is ramping up, especially with the release of the film's second and probably final trailer. In it, we got our first glimpse of Namor the Submariner flying, and we got our first glimpse of Shuri in full Black Panther mode.
The Rings of Power and House of the Dragon: Politics and Adventure
In 2001, The Fellowship of The Ring debuted in theaters, ushering in the beginning of a new age of visual fantasy. Ten years later, in 2011, the fantasy world changed again when the cinematic television adaptation of Game of Thrones debuted on HBO. These two properties set a tone for visual fantasy storytelling. Without The Lord of the Rings films, one could make an argument that there would not be Game of Thrones.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special: Everything We Know So Far
It has been five years since we last saw a standalone Guardians of the Galaxy film when Vol. 2 was released in 2017. Sure, we’ve had quite a few appearances of the Guardians since then in two Avengers movies and most recently in Thor: Love and Thunder, but fans are hankering for more. They’ll have to wait until May 5, 2023, to see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.
MCU's Ironheart: Plot, Cast, and Everything Else We Know
The absence of Tony Stark and Iron Man within the Marvel Cinematic Universe has not only been a thematic plot device since Avengers: Endgame, but it has been a mechanical one as well. While we saw the shaping of a new Tony Stark-level intelligence and tinkerer mentality in Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Far From Home, we haven’t had someone who could fill the shoes of Stark in that way. Black Panther's Shuri is arguably our closest technical wizard, but another waits in the proverbial wings.
How Only Murders in the Building Season 2 Sets the Stage for Season 3
Spoiler Warning: Only Murders In the Building Season One & Two On Tuesday, season two of Only Murders In the Building concluded with a satisfying, twisting, and surprising finale. It had the elements of a bottle episode during its “killer reveal party” that was a delightful double entendre. It had bits of unexpected twists, a killer reveal, and lots of great acting -- from within the show itself and the killer reveal party. But, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Let's break down season two.
The Sandman: What We Hope to See in Season 2 Original
Spoiler Warning: The Sandman Season One In 1987, DC Comics hired a successful writer with pop culture credentials (a biography on Duran Duran and a companion for The Hitchhiker’s Guide to The Galaxy), based on his three graphic novels with collaborator Dave McKean he’d published the year before. This writer was Neil Gaiman.
Ms. Marvel Characters We Hope to See More of in Season 2
Spoiler Warning: Ms. Marvel Season One While we don’t know for sure how many people watched Ms. Marvel (Disney doesn’t announce streaming numbers in that detail), we do know that it was beloved by critics. In fact, it was so well received that it is the highest-rated MCU show yet on Rotten Tomatoes, with 98% on the Tomatometer. Fans have rallied around it, and with each episode drop, it quickly found a Twitter trend blessed upon it. At the start, however, it struggled to find an audience.
Andor: What Star Wars Fans Can Expect from the Disney+ Series
You are excused if you were unaware that another Star Wars show is coming soon to Disney+. Disney has been busy with Marvel Cinematic Universe shows on their streaming platform, and of course, they’ve been busy with Star Wars ones too. After the resounding success of The Mandalorian, it should come as no surprise that the minds behind the magic of the mega-profitable Star Wars properties will continue to mine the galaxy for stories untold on screen.
How TV Helped The Russo Brothers Become Big Screen Directors
Anthony and Joe Russo are now colossal figures in Hollywood, but it wasn’t too long ago that FOX entrusted them with the directing duties to a small comedy pilot, and their dailies panicked the studio heads. That comedy was Arrested Development. They would follow that up with work on shows like Happy Endings, LAX, Running Wilde, The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret, and of course, Community. And it was Community that really set them up for success, but more on that later.
Bluey Is One Of The Greatest TV Shows Made For “Kids”
There are movies and shows for adults, for kids, and movies and shows for everyone. Some of them adhere strictly to their set guidelines, never straying far from their lanes. And sometimes the shows that are for everyone miss their mark because they’re trying so hard to please everyone. And every once in a while, a show for one audience finds another by happenstance, and it takes over the cultural landscape — in this case, a masterpiece called Bluey.

L.A. Confidential is Still a Perfect Noir Film - 25 Years Later
In 1997, there were a number of cultural touch points that would change the world. It saw the release of the book Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in the UK, a book that would change the world, including movies, franchises, and production. In the theaters, 1997 was the release year for the box office and award-winning giant Titanic. Men In Black, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Air Force One, The Fifth Element, and As Good As It Gets.
The Most Amazing Modern Character Actors, Ranked
Share Tweet Share Email These actors aren't always the ones in the spotlight, but they're just as likely to steal it. A long-standing cultural debate is – what defines a character actor? Plenty have described it before, and some other writers have created similar lists with narrow definitions. But, ultimately, an agreed upon definition is that a character actor is someone who isn’t the lead actor, and regularly plays interesting or eccentric characters.
The IT Crowd: Visiting a British Show That Many Americans Missed
At its face, The IT Crowd is a pretty straightforward British workplace comedy. It shares genre DNA with a lot of well-known and influential shows that preceded and followed it - more on that shortly. Based in the offices of the fictional Reynholm Industries, The IT Crowd revolves around the awkward IT nerds Roy Tenneman (Chris O’Dowd) and Maurice Moss (Richard Ayoade), and their new clueless boss, Jen Barber (Katherine Parkinson).
The Most Incredible James Caan Performances, Ranked
On July 6, 2022, James Caan died and the world lost an actor whose presence on screen was not only memorable, but interesting, at-times frightening, intimidating, powerful, and sensitive - a combination that not all can achieve. In addition, James Caan was fortunate enough to have a career that any actor would be envious of, lasting seven decades. He was successful early thanks to his roles in Brian's Song and The Godfather, the latter of which granted him the power of choice.
The MCU's Major Villains, Ranked by Level of Villainy
Share Tweet Share Email In the MCU, not all villains are created equally. Some are stronger, some are arguably justified in some way, but, they're all good at being bad. Marvel Cinematic Universe villains are iconic, and the role they play within the film, and subsequent films, is as important as the heroes themselves. Some of them are obviously stronger than others (Thanos packs a mean punch, but Dormammu is cosmic). But, their villainy is up for debate.
Best Unused James Bond Theme Songs, Ranked
Share Tweet Share Email James Bond themes are a cherished part of the franchise, but there are hidden gems that never made the cut. For 27 movies, James Bond has been accompanied by some of the biggest names in music of their time, and all-time. Shirley Bassey, Louis Armstrong, a-ha, Nancy Sinatra, Jack White and Alicia Keys, Duran Duran, Madonna, Adele, and Billie Eilish are just a sample of the massive names who have created songs.

The Best Minions Movies, Ranked
How the Minions became a staple of our culture will someday be a thesis for a postgraduate study, and on that day, maybe we’ll actually understand. The Minions are a cultural and financial juggernaut. After the debut of Despicable Me (2010), the little, yellow, seemingly gibberish-talking (not actually gibberish) blue jean overall and goggle-wearing ovals took over the cultural world. Since 2010, the Minions have appeared in four films and fifteen short films.
Thor: Best Moments From the Solo Films, Ranked
Share Tweet Share Email In anticipation of Thor: Love and Thunder, here are the nine best scenes from previous Thor movies If you had told Marvel fans back in 2011 when Thor debuted in theaters that it would be the first franchise in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to get more than three movies, they would have scoffed at the notion. Yet, here we are, a few weeks away from the release of the fourth solo Thor movie, Thor: Love and Thunder.
Stranger Things: Why the Series Needs to Kill a Main Character in the Season Four Finale
Stranger Things captured the attention of multiple generations when it debuted in 2016. In four seasons and six years, we’ve watched these characters grow up - literally and figuratively. And yes, we’ve seen secondary characters come and go during this time, but Stranger Things is due for something big. It’s time for a main character to die. The thing about ensemble shows is that it gives showrunners latitude to work in terms of how they use their larger casts, and that includes killing some off.
The Best Major Villains From Batman Movies, Ranked
Share Tweet Share Email With a rogues' gallery as amazing as Batman’s, these are the villains that are the best at being bad. It’s Okay To Question Your Career and Change Your Path
Your degree and experience does not define your career Photo by Brendan Church on Unsplash I went to school for print journalism. My internship was for a newspaper, but not as a writer. Those developed skills and my interests in web design led me to freelance, and the combo of those led me to my next job in the public sector.
