Michael O’Dell, MD, is currently the Associate Chief Medical Officer at the Truman Medical Center’s Lakewood campus in Kansas City, Missouri.

Michael O Dell MD’s Biography

With more than three decades of experience as a physician, educator, author, and lecturer, Michael O’Dell, MD, presently operates as associate chief medical officer and chair of Truman Medical Center at the University of Missouri in Kansas City. In this capacity, Michael O’Dell, MD, oversees the Lakewood campus and chairs the Clinical and Academic Department of Family Medicine.

Michael O’Dell, MD, graduated cum laude from Kansas State University with a bachelor of science in pre-medicine. Earning his medical degree at the University of Missouri in Kansas City, he also received his master’s in healthcare administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Prior to his current position, Michael O’Dell, MD, served in several capacities for North Mississippi Health Services (NMHS) in Tupelo, Mississippi. Beginning his career with NMHS in 2002 as director of the Family Medicine Residency Program, he also functioned as NMHS’ chief quality officer and director for medical education. Prior to NMHS, Michael O’Dell, MD, held academic and clinical positions as the University of Alabama at Birmingham-Huntsville, University of Texas Medical Branch-Galveston, University of Kansas School of Medicine, and the United States Navy.
