Michael Quantrell’s Biography

Michael Quantrell is a seasoned Captain with more than two decades of experience in yacht engineering, estate management, and competitive racing. His work has included overseeing multimillion-dollar yacht refits and managing deliveries along the East Coast. Known for his steady leadership, he has navigated challenging conditions, including enduring Category 4 Hurricane Irma in Florida in 2017.

His passion for life on the water began in his youth while growing up in Camden, Maine, where he spent much of his time sailing or skiing competitively. As a young sailor, Michael earned three medals at the Junior Olympics, including a bronze and a silver in the Laser Class Division. His competitive spirit took him to professional sailing programs in New Zealand, New England, and England. In high school, he excelled in skiing and continued competing for a decade in Friday night lights skiing events in Maine. Even while living in Florida, he remained committed to the sport, winning all three qualifiers in the Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge, a winter race series across Northeastern ski resorts, along with other smaller competitions.

Quantrell began his professional career as a yacht Captain at the age of 18, managing vessels from 20 to 120 feet and captaining yachts up to 112 feet, most recently a 100-foot vessel. He has directed complex yacht refits, transforming vessels into refined, fully operational works of craftsmanship. His responsibilities have included transporting yachts from Mexico and throughout the United States, including Florida, the Bahamas, and the East Coast. For nearly five years, he has owned and operated Ox Eye Marine Corporation, managing yachts between 40 and 112 feet throughout the Eastern Seaboard, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean. His company provides full-service vessel management, including project oversight, crew placement, refits, overseas shipping, sales, and showings.

His career highlights include serving as Captain for a 96’ Broward for 18 months, overseeing a $300k refit, managing crew, ensuring navigation and safety compliance, and organizing travel logistics. Michael also led the operations of a 90-foot Offshore for two years, directing a multimillion-dollar refinance and refit that brought the yacht to peak performance. Additionally, he has acted as Delivery Captain for a 112’ Westport, managed estates alongside yacht operations, and worked on several other notable vessels, including a 59’ Herreshoff, where he oversaw racing activities and crew training.

Beyond his professional work, he enjoys time on the water, caring for his dogs, and spending time with loved ones. Michael Quantrell continues to bring dedication, skill, and a hands-on approach to every project he undertakes.
