Introduction Anthropogenically-induced global warming is increasing the frequency, magnitude, and duration of different kinds of extreme heating events (EHE) globally, posing high risks to biodiversity (Masson-Delmotte et al., 2021). EHE can have profound effects on organisms’ development and behavior as well as species’ phenology, community structure and ecosystem function (Buckley and Huey, 2016; Williams et al., 2016; Przybyla et al., 2021; Breedveld et al., 2023).
