Why did you become a journalist?
I became a journalist to be a voice for the voiceless. As a young girl who was often bullied and overlooked, I grew up believing I had nothing to say — until I discovered the power of storytelling. Journalism gave me a voice, and now I use it to speak up for those who are ignored, silenced, or forgotten.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Start by being endlessly curious and committed to the truth. You don’t need a big platform to begin write for your campus paper, start a blog, or tell community stories on social media. Master the basics: clear writing, strong ethics, and accurate reporting. Listen deeply, read widely, and pitch ideas with purpose. Journalism takes courage, not recklessness — report with integrity, fairness, and empathy. Find mentors, build community, and be open to feedback. Most importantly, stay resilient; the industry is tough, but your voice, your perspective, and your commitment to storytelling truly matter.
