Original Cottages B14 Euros / Nats 2022 at Whitstable Yacht Club - Day 2
Original Cottages B14 Euros / Nats 2022 at Whitstable Yacht Club - Day 2 by Mike Bees 2 Sep 11:03 PDT Day 2 of the Europeans and Day 1 of the Nationals saw a number of sore bodies and a lot of boat fixing. The day brought slightly less of the same compared to the previous day - slightly less wind, slightly less Whitstable chop, a similar flood tide and the bearing to the windward mark still painted on the blackboard at 60 deg.
B14 TT Round 2 at the Stokes Bay Skiff Open
Please select your home edition Edition B14 TT Round 2 at the Stokes Bay Skiff Open by Mike Bees & Mark Barnes 26 Apr 07:06 PDT The B14 bandwagon headed to the south coast after a bruising Rutland Inlands a few weeks ago. Over the weekend of the 23rd - 24th April, we were promised sun and fair wind. The sun arrived as ordered but the weather gods were to play their joker with the wind.

Gul B14 TT Round 5 at Eastbourne Sovereign Sailing Club
The Gul-supported 2018 B14 Travellers Trophy series continued at Eastbourne Sovereign Sailing Club on the weekend of 8/9 September. Entries were depleted by a post-Nationals lull, holidays, and even an outbreak of Shingles (get well soon Leaky). Blue Badge (Mike Bees/Neale Fitzgerald) had turned up the day before for a spot of cheating crew-induction (Neale having never sailed a B14, and not done any dinghy sailng for 15 years!). This lasted about 20 minutes and and ended with a broken mast.
Gul B14 National Championship at Paignton Sailing Club - Overall
After two days of frustration the final day came up trumps with blue skies and a steady 8 knots of breeze, initially from ENE but tracking E as the morning wore on. The objective was to get four races to give a total of nine completed for the Gul B14 Championship supported by Bays Brewery and Seavolution. An awkward swell/slop/chop combination made for a challenging day, especially for the crews on the foredeck who were treated to regular cooling irrigation.

Gul B14 National Championship at Paignton Sailing Club - Day 3
A very similar day to yesterday. A postponement ashore again waiting in hope that a sea breeze - or any sailable breeze - would materialise. After a short wait on the water, the air movement stabilised sufficiently for PRO James Ripley to set a course and get a start away.

Gul B14 National Championship at Paignton Sailing Club - Day 2
Gul B14 National Championship at Paignton Sailing Club - Day 2 by Mike Bees 3 Aug 19:50 BST 2-5 August 2018 No breeze (but plenty of sunshine) stopped play today. An attempt was made to get a race in but that was abandoned as the leaders approached the final windward mark. How happy you were about this depended very much on your position at the time... Apparently some people saw dolphins so the day wasn't completely wasted. Tonight is Leaky games night, we hear that the goats are milked and ready.

Gul B14 National Championship at Paignton Sailing Club - Day 1
Twenty-five boats arrived at the lovely seaside resort of Paignton, for the Gul B14 Nationals hosted by the super-friendly Paignton Sailing Club and supported by Bays Brewery. Day 1 dawned with what looked like a reasonable WNW blowing, but as the fleet launched for a 1pm start it started to drop away. After a short on-the-water postponement the sky cleared and the breeze started to build from the SE.
