The Classic Horror Film Board-MACUMBA LOVE (1960) - German R2 PAL DVD
This DVD contains 2 versions, one in English and one in German with no subs. Both reportedly run 77 minutes PAL, which works out to about 80 minutes NTSC. So, both are missing about 5-6 minutes of the complete run time, which is about 85-86 minutes. The key draw on this disc though, is that the German version (again, which is NOT English friendly) is very good picture quality.

The Classic Horror Film Board-The Unearthly (1957)
I watched this again this weekend (beautiful dvd transfer, by the way) and had a grand old time. This lurid piece of 50's drive-in junk has an absurd plotline that reminded me a little of "The Raven" with more than a little "Black Sleep" thrown in. It made just about as much sense! In fact, had this been made in the 40's it would have been a great (?) Poverty Row vehicle for Lugosi. John Carradine is about as out of control hambone as we are ever likely to see.

The Classic Horror Film Board-Vampira
I hope this is okay to post here. If not and someone can tell me where to post this that would be great.... As many of you know my dearest friend Maila Nurmi (Vampira) passed away. We are hoping her final resting place will be at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. She did not have much at the time of her passing and we want to give her a resting place befitting her and all she gave to the world. PLEASE help. Even if it is just a dollar every one counts.
The Classic Horror Film Board-SENSUOUS SUZANNE (1973?) - Unknown mystery movie
Who directed this film? There's no listing for it on IMDb, and there's nothing about it at Chris Poggiali's Temple of Schlock blog. There's a poster for sale on eBay, dated 1978, but The Scene of Screen 13 blog has a newspaper ad for the film dated 4-13-73 (Chicago), so that at least confirms a 1973 release. (See pic below.) I can only find a credit on IMDb for actress, Lea Vivot, but that is her one and only credit in the ultra low-budget biker film, ROAD OF DEATH.
The Classic Horror Film Board-Any thoughts on the Anthony Quinn-Gina Lollobrigida THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME?
687340 For my money, it's one of the few versions that dares to use something close to the novel's ending (Esmeralda is hung, not shot with an arrow, but Quasimodo does go into the catacombs to embrace her corpse and their skeletons are found eventually), and Quinn and Lollobrigida give it the old college try, but the whole affair is let down by flat direction.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but one of the portraits is actress Katherine Victor. She's at left in the 3 grabs below.
The Classic Horror Film Board-THE BOXER (1972; aka RIPPED-OFF) w/Robert Blake, Ernest Borgnine, Catherine Spaak
When boxer Robert Blake is framed for murdering his crooked manager, he escapes police custody and goes after the real killer in order to clear his name. This crime drama fits solidly into the "poliziotteschi" category, a subgenre of crime/action films that emerged in Italy in the late 1960s and reached the height of their popularity in the 1970s.

The Classic Horror Film Board-PLAYGIRL KILLER (AKA DECOY FOR TERROR; 1967)
Apr 04, 2023#3282023-04-04T03:48+00:00 Pretty boring horror movie from Canada that has an artist kill his models when they move and then stuff them in a freezer. Only enjoyable part is sexy vamp that hires him to do odd jobs when daddy is away but gets offed way too soon. One good rock song from J.B. and The Playboys. 2/5
The Classic Horror Film Board-NEITHER THE SEA NOR THE SAND (1972; UK) - Vinegar Syndrome Blu-ray
Adapted for the screen by Gordon Honeycombe from his own 1969 novel (which itself takes its cue from the classic horror short story “The Monkey’s Paw”), Fred Burnley’s NEITHER THE SEA NOR THE SAND is a haunting slice of British Gothic boasting standout performances from three-time Emmy Award-winner Susan Hampshire (Malpertuis) and Frank Finlay (Lifeforce), alongside a memorably chilling turn from then-newcomer Michael Petrovitch (Turkey Shoot).

The Classic Horror Film Board-STRAWBERRIES NEED RAIN (1970) Buchanan does Bergman
Besides the seven AIP-TV films he’s probably most famous (infamous?) for, Larry Buchanan also directed four other films that fit into the fantastic realm. Of these four, STRAWBERRIES NEED RAIN is perhaps the most unique, a folksy fantasy/drama with some interesting differences from Buchanan's AIP efforts. RAIN’s storyline is simple: Death (played by Les Tremayne) visits a teenage girl (Monica Gayle) and tells her that her time has come.

The Classic Horror Film Board-THE BLACK PEARL (1977)
I had never heard of this, but stumbled on it while looking for some other info on IMDb. It played theatrically in the US in 1977, and then aired on cable in the 80s. Having learned the art of pearl diving, a [seaside village] teenager sets out to find a prized black pearl guarded by an evil giant manta ray. The villagers consider the giant manta to be some sort of devil, and when the boy takes the pearl from the sea, it brings a curse upon his community.

It also has MACUMBA LOVE's June Wilkinson in a small role as one of the Devil's sexy helpers.

The Classic Horror Film Board-Hippie horror films
Sep 02, 2022#832022-09-02T13:40+00:00 NIGHT GALLERY segments are sort of TV movies, and several could fit here. Return of the Sorcerer - mainly because of Tisha Sterling's character, who reminds you of that "trendy Californian fooling around with the occult" cliche. There Aren't Any More McBane's - Joel Gray's character reminds you of the same thing a little, partly just by being a college student. Hell's Bells - the John Astin character. There are probably several others.
The Classic Horror Film Board-Sasquatch, Legend of Bigfoot (1977) Ed Ragozzino
3,33133 I've mentioned this film so many times, I figured I should start an official thread for it. I really love this docudrama about a team composed of a scientist, a Native American tracker, a cook, a mountain man, and a journalist take part in an expedition to try and track down the elusive beast. It features absolutely wonderful nature footage shot IIRC somewhere in the Canada. Ed Ragozzino also directed wildlife documentaries and shot the footage used in the movie.

The Classic Horror Film Board-Horror in Sepia
2:07 AM - Aug 06#62024-08-06T02:07+00:00 Supposedly, the original releases of Sam Katzman's JUNGLE JIM series with Johnny Weissmuller were in "sepia-tone" to mask all the various degrees of stock footage used in the film. How hard would it be for Columbia (or whomever they lease the film series to) to digitally "tint" these films. I've heard rumors that the premiere of KING KONG had a sepia or hand-toned print of the film shown for Grauman's Chinese Theater (I think) in 1933.

By official, I mean either a major studio or indie company.
