Reader's View: Regarding Ukraine, US is the aggressor
The U.S. is easily the world’s largest and most sophisticated military power, spread across approximately 750 bases worldwide. Russia has about 21 bases, almost all in former Soviet republics. President Ronald Reagan’s Cold War onslaught was drenched in exaggeration of Soviet power and claims of U.S. moral superiority. Then as now he could count on the American press to dutifully report it to an already propagandized populace. Times haven’t changed.
It is outrageous that the News Tribune continues to publish letters critical of our good congressman, Rep. Pete Stauber. It is tragic when wealthy people use their wealth to control events in our country. Wealthy people don't seem to think they need God. Some wealthy people who are prominent in politics have head knowledge of who God is but don't have heart knowledge. They are harsh and deceitful and do not obey God's commandments. There are many Bible-believing Christians in our country.
Reader's View: Feminism failing women around the world
Feminism has failed in today’s society. Or, rather, we as a society have failed feminism. What was once a civil rights movement has become a social-media trend that promotes misandry. If this is the case, why is this behavior so widely accepted among those who claim to support gender equality?

The death penalty is legal in 27 states. But isn’t it a little hypocritical to commit the same crime the accused committed? There are many reasons why the death penalty is enforced. It cuts down the number of people in prisons, saves the government money, and gives people justice. But at what cost?

Tim Pugmire / MPR News ST. PAUL — Former state Sen. Reader's View: Replace historic hospital with green space
When the old St. Mary’s hospital building is demolished in 2023 or 2024 (“ St. Mary's Medical Center to be demolished when Vision Northland is complete ,” Jan. 18), I propose it be replaced with green space. The hillside is woefully short of park space, as was clearly demonstrated in the maps that accompanied the recent Natural Resources Management Program Plan ( NRMPP ) for the city of Duluth.
