What was your first job as a journalist?
The first assignment I ever had was covering a local high school football game.

Yes, I'm an old guy.
How is social media changing news?
News is instant now. Social media gets us the news as it's happening, but make sure you're getting it from a trusted source.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
It means you have the trust in your readership when you're able to go out and tell a story.

Why did you become a journalist?
My father was a sports journalist and I always loved following him around and going with him to the games he covered.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I never wrote for the school paper. I was always too busy playing sports.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I loved writing my celebrity Super Bowl prediction story where I went out and interviewed many stars to get their picks on the big game.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Just be honest and truthful. Don't be biased and tell the story.
What's your favorite drink?
I drink way too much Coke Zero
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
With my two daughters.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That we know all the athletes personally.
