Cryptosporidium in Rabbits: A Global Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis of Prevalence, Species/Genotypes Distribution and Zoonotic Significance
1 Introduction Cryptosporidium is a protozoan parasite that causes cryptosporidiosis, leading to millions of diarrhoea cases annually, 12.9 million disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs), and approximately 48,000 deaths globally (Khalil et al. 2018). Notably, it ranks as the sixth most common cause of diarrhoeal death in children under five worldwide and is linked to long-term consequences like stunted growth and malnutrition (Tipu et al. 2024).
The global prevalence and associated risk factors of Eimeria infection in domestic chickens: A systematic review and meta‐analysis
1 INTRODUCTION Coccidiosis is recognized as the parasitic disease with the highest economic impact on the poultry production industry (Allen & Fetterer, 2002). A wide range of domestic and wild animal species, including cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, turkeys, rabbits, reptiles and fish, are affected by coccidiosis, which is the most potent cause of economic losses, especially regarding poultry and livestock farming (Ahmad et al., 2016; Jenkins, 2001).
A global systematic review and meta‐analysis on the babesiosis in dogs with special reference to Babesia canis
1 INTRODUCTION Vector-borne diseases (VBDs) are included among the emerging and re-emerging infections, representing health concern for humans, livestock, wildlife, and companion animals (Kuleš et al., 2017). They cause significant economic losses due to high mortality rates and, as a result, decreases profit in the global livestock industry (Lew-Tabor & Valle, 2016).
Mapping the global, regional, and national burden of diarrheal diseases attributable to unsafe water
Highlights - Research background: Diarrheal diseases are major contributors to deaths. Data on global and country-specific levels and trends of diarrheal diseases resulting from unsafe water are essential for policymakers to allocate resources. - Research motivation: The global, regional, and national spatiotemporal burden of diarrheal diseases resulting from unsafe water exposure is still unclear.
