Milan Chakrabarty MD’s Biography

Milan Chakrabarty, MD, is a board-certified gastroenterologist and internal medicine specialist. He leads GI-Excellence in Hemet, California, which was previously known as the Hemet Endoscopy Center. Throughout his career, he has remained dedicated to providing high-quality medical care to his patients.

He is known for his expertise in advanced interventional endoscopy, focusing on procedures essential for preventing, detecting, diagnosing, and treating complex gastrointestinal conditions. His areas of specialization include Barrett's Esophagus, Biliary Disease, pancreatic cysts, gastrointestinal bleeding, and gastrointestinal cancers. Due to his extensive knowledge and skill, regional hospitals frequently seek his expertise.

As the first gastroenterologist to establish a practice in Southern California's Inland Empire, which covers San Bernardino and Riverside Counties, Dr. Chakrabarty has served the community for over 43 years. His practice is built on the principles of compassionate care, and his team is committed to ensuring the well-being of their patients. The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, making it a leading center for gastrointestinal care in the region.

His journey in medicine began early in life. He was born in Kolkata and raised in Mumbai, India, in a family of physicians, including his father, grandfather, and three uncles. This familial legacy inspired him to pursue a career in medicine. As a child, he often assisted his father in his medical practice, and his mother played a crucial role in his education.

Milan Chakrabarty, MD, completed his medical degree at Grand Medical School College, Mumbai University, where he earned his M.B.B.S. He then completed an internship at J.J. Group of Hospitals, Mumbai University, followed by a residency at St. George Hospital in Mumbai, with subspecialty rotations at G.T. Hospital. After training in India, he moved to England and worked in Internal Medicine at Mount Pleasant Hospital, Cardiff University, for three years.

Dr. Chakrabarty later relocated to the United States, where he continued his medical training as a Resident Physician at the Metropolitan Jewish Medical Center in Coney Island, New York. He also completed an Internal Medicine residency at St. Clare's Hospital & Health Center in Manhattan. He then pursued a Gastroenterology Fellowship at Albert Einstein Medical Center & Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

In the early 1980s, he settled in Hemet, California, and founded the G.I. Department at Hemet Valley Medical Center. He also served as the first Hospice Medical Director in Sun City, California, in 1982. In 1992, he established the Hemet Endoscopy Center and founded the Hemacinto Medical Group a year later. By 2004, he had built new medical and state-of-the-art surgery centers.

Milan Chakrabarty, MD, is an active member of professional organizations, including the American Gastroenterological Association, the American College of Gastroenterology, and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. His contributions to the field include co-authoring a study on the "Determination of Circulating D.N.A. Levels in Patients with Benign or Malignant Gastrointestinal Disease, Cancer." He has also shared his knowledge through seminars, including presentations on "Colon Cancer Awareness."

Outside of his professional life, Dr. Chakrabarty is passionate about collecting European antiques, sculptures, and paintings displayed in his office. He also enjoys cars, stamp collecting, photography, traveling, boating, and, recently, painting.

Milan S. Chakrabarty, MD, continues to innovate in his field. He is currently working on establishing a Longevity and Wellness Center in Hemet, where he plans to offer stem cell treatments, further advancing his commitment to patient care and wellness.
