What Happened To Mindy McCready? Inside The Tragic Life and Death Of The Country Singer
Country music often highlights the real-life highs and lows that people experience on a day-to-day basis. And perhaps no other artist has lived out the struggles that can make up a country song’s lyrics more than the late Mindy McCready. Born in Fort Myers, Florida, on November 30, 1975, McCready (Malinda Gayle McCready) was the daughter of parents Melody Gayle Inge and Tim McCready. Although she grew up in a broken family, her love of music began at age three when she started singing in church.
Remember the Tragic Way Mindy McCready Died?
Mindy McCready's tragic death at the age of 37 came after a years-long, very public downward spiral.
Cheese Industry and Emphasis on Marketing
While attending World Dairy Expo I had the opportunity to speak time with John Umhoefer, the Executive Director of the Wisconsin Cheesemakers. Umhoefer spent some time talking business and some of the challenges to price but then brought up a couple of key points about labor shortages impacting not only dairy farmers but processors as well. And talked about how important it is for dairy to do a better job in knowing their customer.
Controling Your Dairy Outlook
Although the class 3 futures market flirted with $17.00 a hundredweight milk, on the whole 2017 was another year of disappointing milk returns. While there are many things outside of a farmers control Gary Sipioski shared with me a message on what are the 100 little things producers can do to improve their bottom line. Â
Variability in the Fall Harvest
The challenges of the 2017 crop year are continuing right into the fall harvest. Weather has caused harvest delays and it looks like more than a few growers will be making corn silage into November. As for the corn for grain, variability is the key word with some acres recording yields of 200 plus bushels while others at half of that. Soils and crop agent Kevin Jarek gives us his assessment of not only the corn crop but soybeans and the alfalfa crops as well. Â Â
Focusing on Farm Safety, Harvest Time - All the Time
If you remember the old TV series Hill Street Blues, the shift Sargent would always end the sessions with the officers by saying: Be Careful Out There. Well that is great daily advice to farmers as well. Because even though safety measures have been initiated in and around the farm and on farm equipment, the farming industry continues to be one of America's most dangerous profession.
Island Chicken Breasts
I love trying out new rubs, sauces and marinades. This marinade is a little putzy, but all the fresh ingredients really gives the chicken a kick! Combine all ingredients (except the chicken) in a food processor and puree to form a paste. Place the chicken breasts in a resealable bag and add the marinade. Return to the refrigerator for 2-4 hours. Remove chicken breasts from the marinade and cook to 165°, approximately 5-7 minutes per side. Discard excess marinade.

Back-To-School Eye Examination
Summer vacation is drawing to a close and it is time to prepare our children for a successful school year. In your child’s classroom, digital devices may be available as learning tools. Although these devices are great resources for our children’s education, parents need to be aware of the visual risks associated with staring at screens for long periods of time and take the proper precautions to help alleviate eye and vision problems.
My Child Knocked Out a Tooth
Would you know what to do if your child knocked a tooth out? If you can find the tooth it's best to put it right back in. If the tooth is covered in dirt very gently rinse it off first. The sooner you can put the tooth back in the better chance you have of saving it. Also having the tooth back in place will help stop any bleeding. It's important to keep the cells on the roots surface alive. If you can't re implant the tooth the next best thing is to keep the tooth wet with saliva.

Does your fitbit app look like this? Keeping our bodies moving and exercising is important. As is what we eat. Most of us are looking for ways to be more fit and healthy and this current craze of Garmin's, Leafs, jawbones and fitbits are doing just that. They are a constant reminder to move our bodies and wrack up steps for the day. Calories in and calories out are very important for losing or maintaining a healthy weight.
Seeing Things For The First Time
I am so excited about today…. After having coffee with my pastor this morning, this is what I am walking around singing…. “I’m Seeing Things For The First Time” Thank You Black Crowes for that great song that is now stuck in my head, and it is now probably going to be stuck in yours too! My pastor reminded me about giving Glory to God in whatever it is that I do…..
Preventive Guidelines for Healthy, Low-Risk Adults
What health concerns should you be screened for and how often? The following preventive health guidelines, courtesy of Prevea Health, are the minimum standards for healthy, low-risk adults. Your doctor may recommend more frequent screenings and testing based on your medical history. Fasting lipid screening is recommended every five years for men 34 and older. Prostate cancer screenings are recommended annually for men 50 to 70 who are at an average risk.
The Dental Insurance Myth
Many of us are quite familiar with insurance and why its protection is so important. Take for example car insurance or homeowners insurance. The bank makes us take out these policies to protect their interest in our assets. Typically if we have basic maintenance to do such as buying new tires for our car or replacing furnace filters and salt in our softener we will pay for those things without any help from our insurance.
What Foods Help Me See?
Nutrition does play an important role in eye health. In general, a balanced diet and normal body weight keep your eyes healthy longer. For example, diets low in certain vitamins and Omega-3 fatty acids are associated with increased risk of dry eyes, cataract, diabetic eye disease, and age-related macular degeneration. A normal diet helps mitigate these risks. In specific, your eyes need certain nutrients that can only be found in your diet.
Sunscreen Myths | 104.7 Duke FM
With summer right around the corner, I’d like to address some common myths surrounding sunscreen identified by the Skin Cancer Foundation. Wrong. Up to 40 percent of the sun’s ultraviolet radiation reaches the earth on a completely cloudy day. Wear sunscreen no matter what the weather looks like. Recent studies show that we get less than 25 percent of our total sun exposure by age 18. In fact, it is men over the age of 40 who spend the most time outdoors and get the highest annual doses of UV rays.
((WATCH))Mercedes Takes Joyride In Front of Ambulance
I don't quite understand what's happening here! So this Mercedes decided to take a joyride and the way to do that was in front of an ambulance?! He has his flashers on and is taking advantage of all the cars pulling off for quite a while. Little did he know, the dashcam caught the whole thing...or maybe he knew and didn't care. VIDEO
Why Should I Wear Sunglasses?
Proper sunglasses shield the eyes from ultraviolet light that naturally comes from the sun. Ultraviolet light is invisible to the human eye and does nothing to improve your vision. In the short run, intense sun exposure can be painful and debilitating to your eyes. In the long run, it harms your eyes in terms of surface scarring, cataract, and macular degeneration. You should protect your eyes like you should protect your skin.

Overeating may not be the problem
We all know that our bodies need calories to live. We also know that eating more calories than we need does not improve our body's performance. In fact most of us accept that too many calories is downright harmful. Have you ever considered that breathing is more critical to life than eating but just like over eating over breathing can be making us sick. That's right, our bodies need to breath but too much of a good thing is making us sick, fat and fatigued.

What if it isn’t ADHD?
The teacher is sending emails home and your son or daughter is struggling to stay on task in school. With the number of kids in the classroom and the curriculum demands, the teacher isn’t able to give your child the attention they need to succeed. You might even feel some pressure to have your child diagnosed or put on medication so they aren’t a “distraction” in the class room, but you are not sure about the side effects or having your child labeled. There may be another option.
