INTRODUCTION The development of germ cells requires genes that regulate their specification, migration and differentiation. To sustain this development, germline genes are expressed in a temporally and spatially regulated manner across these distinct stages. Among these genes, vasa (vas), encoding a DEAD-box RNA helicase, has been recognised as a highly conserved germline marker in many insects and other animals (Chen et al., 2025; Raz, 2000).
Abstract Hybridization between invasive pest species may lead to significant genetic and economic impacts that require close monitoring. The two most invasive and destructive termite species worldwide, Coptotermes formosanus Shiraki and Coptotermes gestroi (Wasmann), have the potential for hybridization in the field.
Abstract : Cell cycle progression during development is meticulously coordinated with differentiation. This is particularly evident in the Drosophila 3rd instar eye imaginal disc, where the cell cycle is synchronized and arrests at the G1 phase in the non-proliferative region (NPR), setting the stage for photoreceptor cell differentiation.
