The alchemist and the goddess
by Misha Norland I pencilled the first jottings on the theme in 1988 in order to clarify my thoughts. As the essay began to unfold, itself I found myself in the grip of an 'internal logic' which drove towards an uncomfortable conclusion. I would like to write about this and also make some further observations.
Two Poems
by Misha Norland I dreamed of the eclipse of light I dreamed of the eclipse of light, myself in deathward flight. There was no one to hear my stricken yell. Into deepest pit I plummeted, dismembering myself as I fell. The horror was in the severing. Now awakened and spinning like an eccentric merry-go-round, I considered the nature of suffering. It seems that I have lifetimes within which to cut off my attachments. Yet will I become light enough to reach the bottom without fatal fracturing?
Some thoughts about Mercurius
by Misha Norland I would like to pick up a few strands of the story of Mercurius the homoeopathic medicine and attempt to tie this into an appreciation of its principle or essence. I will be making a few connections within that broader canvas upon which our collective experiences are painted. Hermes and the God Mercury, have an honoured place in the ancient Greek and Roman pantheons. In astrology the qualities of the planet Mercury and the signs which it rules, Gemini and Virgo are well known e.g..

Thuja - the Tree of Life, the Tree of Death
by Misha Norland In recent homeopathic materia medicas a well developed portrait of Thuja has emerged which is as excellent as it is one sided. This one sidedness may be inherent in the picture of Thuja (divided, with one half hidden), therefore this paper is an attempt to paint in some of the neglected areas. Thuja, although familiar to all prescribes of homeopathic medicines, is often missed because we have a preconception of how a Thuja patient ought to present.
Origins of the Mappa Mundi
by Misha Norland The origins of physical chemistry, so I was taught at my Hampstead primary school, lay in the murky antiquity of Alchemy. I was given my first insight into the manner of mediaeval thought by my school teacher, who simultaneously ridiculed it. She taught that alchemists tried to turn lead into gold, and wasn't this a silly idea?
As we look at our individual situation within society and what provisions we make for ourselves, then we may indeed have felt reassured in 1940, for we began upon an enlightened path with regard to health – we established a national health service. We made it available for all including visitors, based, if we were resident, upon monthly contributions of employer or were we self employed by monthly contributions by ourselves. It was fair.
Nelson for acutes
Introduction to acute prescribing by Misha Norland, School of Homeopathy Nelsons Homeopathic Pharmacy 2008 In the beginning homeopathy was placed upon the map of health-care because of its success in treating epidemics. In dire situations such as this as well as in times of war, the use of homeopathically indicated medicines has helped to save countless lives. This is well documented.

A metaphor of the magic of the minimum dose
by Misha Norland In the current animosity towards homeopathy, we note that we are being attacked because we are successful, because our patients insist that homeopathy heals. We have become a market force to be reckoned with. The spear-head of attack, the chink in our armour is, always has been, focused upon the issue of the dynamised dose. This is how our detractors justify their arguments and dare to call us quacks and purveyors of snake oil.
Sparrow (Passer Domesticus)
fish. Then we were in a shopping arcade, the man started to gut the fish. I had a go, yuk it wasn't my kind of thing. I remember the inside of the fish being a nice flower or star shape when it's head was cut off. I kept looking at this shape on and off. I really didn't want to be doing the gutting. People came by and bought pilchards as we worked. I just wanted out of that job and was pleased when my boss asked me to go and get him a drink. I brought coffee and a very expensive apple drink.
