How is social media changing news?

Social media is changing news by making it immediately available, but it's making trained journalist more important than ever.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

At its best journalism reveals injustice and plays a vital role in democracy. Being a journalist means being a part of that process.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

I use Microsoft Word and sometimes Google Docs.

What's your favorite social network?

My favorite social media network is Twitter.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

My best advice to aspiring journalists: don't quit.

The best time to pitch me is whenever it's convenient for you.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

When I'm not at my computer I might be driving (because I love to travel) or hiking.
