4 hours ago Derek Chisora was left with mixed emotions after he suffered defeat in his final bout, but only after an exhilarating fight of the year contender with Deontay Wilder at a raucous O2 Arena. In the 50th bout of Chisora’s (36-14, 23KOs) eventful professional career, ‘Del Boy’ showed remarkable powers of recovery to come back from a punishing eighth round and take former WBC champion Wilder (45-4-1, 43 KOs) to the distance.

Almost three years after they were first scheduled to meet, Chris Eubank Jnr, the IBO middlweight champion, finally takes on Conor Benn, renewing a family feud that spanned two unforgettable fights and an awful amount of spiteful words between their fathers in 1990 and 1993.

The classic sliding doors moment man: Remembering David Hookes, an often unsung hero of Australian Cricket
January 19 2025, represented the 21st anniversary of David Hookes’ passing. If you look at his stats there’s nothing remarkable there; 23 Tests and only one century and that’s against the 1983 version of Sri Lanka. He also played 39 one-day games and no centuries. Facebook Twitter Whatsapp Reddit Email Share David was quoted as saying he never got the big deal over centuries. His record backs that up. Yet David Hookes was something else.

Review: Don't wait to see Waiting for Godot
Entertainment James Macdonald’s West End production of Samuel Beckett’s existential tragicomedy began its previews last week at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, and will run through to December 14. Starring Ben Whishaw (from Paddington, This is Going to Hurt) and Lucian Msamati (Gangs of London), Macdonald’s take on the often discussed play manages to convey its narrative’s overpowering sense of monotony with an infectious energy.
Review: Halloween Ends, the series dies with a fitting funeral
Quick note: I really couldn't address this film without spoilers so if you have yet to see it feel free to bookmark this and come back later... I am a massive horror fan, and yet I don’t feel particularly attached to this series personally as its antagonist felt a tad bland in comparison to more colourful slashers such as Freddie, the various Ghost Faces, Jason etc. It’s therefore very impressive that I can feel the respect for the originals oozing out of this film in all areas.

These are questions I had when arriving at Uni after rocking the same range between buzz cut and ‘Grade 2 sides and back and a trim on top please’ since as early as I can remember. I then immediately did my best lockdown impression and didn’t get a haircut for almost 2 years before giving in and finally trimming my new long style.

Years after the release of Insomniac Games’ sensational ‘Spider-Man,’ and its fun sized sequel-dlc-spin off title ‘Spider-Man: Miles Morales,’ audiences have finally got their hands on Spider-Man 2. The anticipated sequel was an important member of Sony’s Playstation 5 exclusive lineup, myself buying it on release having only just picked up the next gen console the week before.

Women's World Cup 2023: Lionesses fall at the final hurdle following dramatic tournament

Warm Paws: Newcastle Dog and Cat shelter raises £100,000 to combat energy price hike
A Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter launched the ‘Warm Paws appeal’ after an energy price hike threatened the operation of the shelter, which has been providing services for the last 126 years. The appeal states their existing annual bill is set to quadruple from £50,000 to £200,000. This, amidst a cost of living crisis, not only harms the charity’s ability to operate but also sees families unable to afford to keep their pets, meaning there’s higher pressure on all shelters.

TV for the spooky season
Image: IMDB As a horror fan it's easy to see why so many flock to movies during the spooky season to get their fix of terror. However, TV offers something different and equally compelling in its own right.

“Why Always Me?” The pain of the game breaking glitch
Image: EA Trawling through the PlayStation store’s deals and offers list, desperately looking for a new experience to fight back the boredom as I often do, I came across an offer I could not refuse. The Mass Effect Legendary Edition, the trilogy remastered, for around £13. Hijinks ensue… unfortunately. Real Madrid triumphant after dramatic clash with City

The two legs of the competition’s semi final produced one of the most exhilarating match ups in recent memory, with both games sure to live long in the minds of fans and neutrals alike. Want to prevent teacher burnout? Pay us what we're worth and make our lives outside of work better.
I am a teacher. My district recently sent out a survey about teacher burnout and how to prevent it. They suggested shortened days and teacher work days, and asked if we had any suggestions to be considered. We don't want our instructional time reduced. We don't want less time with our kids. Here's the thing: We're burned out, but we've always been burned out. The last two years have been awful, but only barely more awful than normal. It has, however, been awful enough to push us over the edge.

Moonfall-s flat on its face
Credit: IMDb The latest Roland Emmerich release featured more disaster at the box office than in the film itself, much to Emmerich’s annoyance clearly, as he went on to blame the flurry of hyper-successful Marvel films for “Ruining our industry”. The failure of his new ‘high-concept’ disaster film to land with audiences may be down to Emmerich falling out of touch with his audiences after a long and successful career.

Nottingham Forest Upset Tainted by Pitch Invader Assault
Nottingham Forest put Premier League side Leicester City to the sword in the FA cup last week with a 4-1 thrashing at the City Ground, but the event was marred by unsavoury scenes. The Championship side stunned Leicester early on with 2 goals in as many minutes, Zinckernagel scoring in the 23rd minute before 20-year-old Brennan Johnson capitalised on a failed back pass in order to bag in the 24th.

Ridley Scott Crosses Swords With ‘Millennial’ Audience
Ridley Scott has lashed out at young audiences over the disastrous performance of his recent film The Last Duel at the box office, earning back only a quarter of its $100 million budget. The remarks make the filmmaker appear out of touch and entitled, and ironically rather immature. The three-hour period epic stars Matt Damon and Adam Driver as opposing forces in a feudal France, and failed to capture the interest of the public in a congested release schedule.

A rundown of the Carabao Cup: Going into the quarter-finals
Image: Pixabay After four consecutive years of holding the competition’s trophy, Manchester City finally met their match in West Ham. The upset has left huge questions as to which side left in the competition has what it takes to claim the vacant throne. Obviously, four of the traditional top six are still in the competition and the winner will be seen by many as being somewhere in this group. Chelsea, who will face fellow London club Brentford in the quarterfinals, may be the most obvious choice.
Dune bits for the box office - sequel given the go-ahead
Denis Villeneuve’s Sci-Fi epic has received the go-ahead for part two, slated for release in October 2023. The news comes as no surprise after the film topped box offices and left the story abruptly up in the air, always intended as part one of a series. Star power... Rebecca Ferguson and Timothée Chalamet.
Manchester United trounced by merciless Liverpool
Image: Sporting Ferret The much-anticipated rivalry of Manchester United vs. Liverpool was settled in an emphatic fashion last weekend. Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool ran riot at Old Trafford, the final score of 0-5 summed up one of United’s darkest days in recent memory. The result immediately cast doubt on manager Solskjaer’s capability in the role, with visiting fans chanting the now infamous “Ole’s at the wheel” from the away end.
Hammers hold firm in London derby
West Ham opened the game as the brighter side, finding success in both their attempts to counter-attack and in breaking down Tottenham’s defence. Pablo Fornals had two of the better chances of the first half, specifically an acrobatic effort forcing a save from Lloris to his low right side. Fornals would come close to contributing again minutes later, sending a dipping cross into the back post which, midfielder, Tomas Soucek could only flick onto the stanchion with his head.
Antlers (15) Review - Is it an Ant-let down?
Credit: IMDb As a horror fan, recent years of the same large budget horror films had taken much of the magic out of the genre on the big screen. It feels at times like the films have become as much of a money-making scheme as engaging thrill rides. Hence my apprehension when I sat down to experience Antlers, a movie which I had heard almost nothing about in the weeks prior.
The starting XI of intimidation
Everyone knows that cricket statistics don’t tell the real story of some players’ worth. While they provide for partnerships, skills or getting out the top players and leaving the tail for other bowlers, one statistic missing is fear level. When you worry all night at the prospect of facing a certain player, where you mention to your batting partner how scared you are to face a bowler – then that fear spreads throughout the whole side until you are mentally defeated.
