Space‐for‐time substitutions exaggerate urban bird-habitat ecological relationships
1 INTRODUCTION North American birds have declined by 29% since 1970 (Rosenberg et al., 2019). Very abundant species have experienced particularly large declines (Berigan et al., 2021; Rosenberg et al., 2019). These declines occur amidst climate change, declines in other taxa and urbanization (IPBES, 2019; United Nations Environment Programme, 2021). Understanding and minimizing these declines is particularly important, and promising, in cities.
Occipital Scalp Nodule in a Newborn
Histopathology revealed lobular panniculitis with lymphohistiocytic inflammation, lipid crystals, and calcifications in our patient (Figure). Subcutaneous fat necrosis (SCFN) was diagnosed based on these characteristic histopathologic findings. No further treatment was pursued. Subcutaneous fat necrosis is a rare, self-limiting panniculitis that typically resolves within several weeks to months without scarring.
New study including Duke researchers finds that cash support for low-income mothers impacts children’s brain development
A team of researchers from six universities, including Duke’s Sanford School of Public Policy, found in a recent study that one year of providing cash support to low-income mothers had a direct impact on children’s brain development associated with thinking and learning. The study, published by the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, was inspired by the advances in the fields of social science and neuroscience.

According to students, they offer the best dumplings on campus. Duke Dining recently added these two eateries to their food truck program, which runs between 5 and 7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays.
What is Enterprise Software? Using Tech to Master Regulatory Compliance
Compliance in the cannabis industry is constantly evolving, and, as cannabis’ legal status continues to vacillate, things are only expected to increase in complexity before a “gold standard” is set. To protect employees and consumers — as well as the business itself — cannabis companies must create a discrete strategy, one grounded in trust of data — the data that’s driving business decisions.

4 Reasons Cannabis Companies Are Moving to an Enterprise Solution
To say 2020 could be a defining year for vertically integrated cannabis companies is an understatement. It will be. And those driving execution in this complex, regulated industry with an enterprise-level solution will prove to be the leaders. This year, the cannabis industry has been thrust into yet another transitional period. Legalization legislation is potentially off the table for the foreseeable future, and many are dealing with a shrinking economy for the first time.
Atlanta’s Churches That Will Welcome You Home
I caught myself recently in a “grass is greener on the other side” moment, looking at the website of a local church. They have the worship band, they have a coffee bar, they have small groups, they have it all — except for anything on their website that affirms that they would be open to someone like me worshipping with them. Thankfully, I have found a church home, a home that I looked for, for a very long time.
Your LGBTQ Guide to the Midterm Elections
I am a firm believer that every vote matters. In the terrifying 2016 election, an estimated 231,556,622 of eligible voters did not vote at all. In a system based on electoral votes rather than the popular vote (I’ll save that soapbox for another day) these votes can and will change the course of American history. This year, we have a nearly unprecedented ballot for November 6th.
The Starlight: Keeping Atlanta in the Dark Since 1948
At dusk all across America, people pile their families in the car to go to the movies. These are not the movies you have to walk through the mall to get to; these are the movies that became a symbol of the American Dream and are now quickly on their way to becoming an American memory. Drive-in theaters rose to popularity during the 1950s reaching about 4,000 locations nationwide.
The Housing of Feminist Literary Art & Beyond
Tucked behind Brewhouse Café on Euclid Avenue is an unassuming purple house that has shaped Atlanta’s literary and social movements for the last 44 years. Charis is one of the oldest feminist bookstores in the country and has stayed true to feminist values ever since its inception. Charis is not just a bookstore; it is a headquarters for Atlanta residents to educate, resist, and connect to their community.
On Being An Older Student
As a non-traditional student, here are a few items I wish I’d known before I hopped back in. Your Professors Are Here for You This is one of those pieces of advice that every nerd who runs freshmen orientation will tell you and I whole heartedly urge you to take it into consideration.
In Reverence of Cop Dogs
Flashing blue lights, guns drawn, and a fierce, highly skilled German Shepherd racing after a perpetrator. Growling and snarling, the dog expertly takes down the crook. All is well. This image is brought to most of our minds when a Police K9 unit is mentioned, but their job duties are so much more varied. Intelligent and diligent dogs sniffing out narcotics buried deep inside of a suitcase at Hartsfield Jackson. Dogs sweeping stadiums before big events.
In the Louvre, Beyoncé is an icon of victory: How the Carters elevate art in ‘APES--T’
Over and again, white European ideals of beauty have attempted to stamp out the idea that black can be beautiful, so “Portrait of Juliette Récamier” stands out as a particularly meaningful choice in the video. Juliette Récamier hosted one of the most popular salons in Paris, was an intellectual, and was deeply admired by men and women alike.
The Evil & The Triumphant of the Stonewall Riots
In 1969, a group of people went to the Stonewall Inn to be themselves, drink, and dance in safety. None of the partygoers could have known that as they headed out for fun one fateful night, the fight for LGBTQ rights would come out of the shadows and into the streets. June is National Pride Month. Why? Is it because the weather is good, school is out, and summer is always a great time for a party? Nope.

Kickstarter >> Mind Reset for Junior Golf by Morgan Fletcher
Risks and challenges The biggest challenge we faced was proving that our program works. That's why we chose to conduct pilot studies with the AJGA, the William & Mary women's golf team, and to work one-on-one with a local academy. We wanted them to tell you whether our program works. Here's what they have to say. This is powerful stuff. You will quickly see why we want as many kids as possible to have access to this program.
