Response to Comment on: Meeting the growing demand: an operational blueprint for a 1500-case-per-year penile implant center of excellence
We appreciate the insightful commentary by Wilson et al. regarding our publication [1], “Meeting the Growing Demand: An Operational Blueprint for a 1500-Case-per-Year Penile Implant Center of Excellence” [2]. We are honored by their recognition of our surgical volume and efficiency. Below, we address the specific inquiries regarding our surgical techniques, patient selection, and center logistics. Outcomes of the Hamdan Extrainguinal Sub-Oblique (HESO) technique for reservoir placement in inflatable penile prosthesis implantation
Abstract Inflatable penile prosthesis (IPP) implantation is the standard treatment for refractory erectile dysfunction, but traditional reservoir placement in the space of Retzius risks injury. Ectopic and submuscular alternatives were developed to mitigate these potential complications. We evaluated the safety, feasibility, and outcomes of the Hamdan Extrainguinal Sub-Oblique technique, which uses direct visualization to avoid the space of Retzius.
Meeting the growing demand: an operational blueprint for a 1500-case-per-year penile implant center of excellence
Abstract The global demand for inflatable penile prosthesis (IPP) surgery continues to rise, yet little guidance exists on how mature, ultra-high-volume centers sustain efficiency, safety, and workflow at scale. Accuracy of self-evaluation in a peer-learning environment: an analysis of a group learning model
Abstract There is a global competitive demand for graduates with soft skills, and higher education institutions are tasked to reduce the employee skill gap. Thus, we investigated the students' perceptions of peer assessment in facilitating engagement in soft-skill development through group work activities. Using group work to measure the effectiveness of students' feedback on their assessment, we posit that students perceive self-assessment in group work as a tool that represents fairness.
