Mohammed Hussein is deputy Kurdistan Bureau Director at Iraq Oil Report. He is covering Kurdistan Region of Iraq and parts of provinces of Sulaymaniah, Diyala, Salahadin, and Kirkuk. He has covered armed groups operations there as a journalist since 2003.
Before joining Iraq Oil Report, he was an editor at Awena, the only independent newspaper in Iraq. He is co-founder of independent local Kurdish newspaper Barawshar and an independent radio station Dang.
He has been working with various Iraqi media since 2000, publishing hundreds investigative reports and articles about Iraqi political dynamics and corruption-related issues.
His writings and commentaries have also appeared on Foreign Affairs, Kurdistantribune, and various mainstream Iraqi Kurdish media and national televisions and radios like NRT, Speda, and Rudaw.
He graduated from American University of Iraq with a degree in International Studies. And he is Research fellow at the Center for Development and Natural Resources (CDNR) at the same university.
