Molly Longman
VerifiedMolly Longman’s Biography
I’m Molly—I write about things like Juggalos, human trafficking, refugee resettlement, LSD, and the 2016 presidential election. I've also been known to produce a podcast series or two. I’m a versatile reporter who’s flexible in her subject matter. I specialize in narrative, digital, and feature journalism, as well as research.
I love sharing stories. As a journalist, ordinary people with breath-taking stories let you into their lives every day. I believe it's our responsibility to tell those stories accurately and with integrity.
My work has been featured in Teen Vogue, Cosmopolitan.com, Mic, Los Angeles magazine, 5280 Magazine, Paste, Midwest Living, and other publications. I served as the multimedia editor for my college's Pacemaker-winning publication, Drake Magazine, where I managed writers, assigned stories, and oversaw digital story-telling.
My skills go beyond editorial—I've assisted in marketing strategy for the London-based company Hotcourses.com and co-produced Los Angeles' and Drake Magazine's podcast series. I'm a seasoned fact-checker, accustomed to using state and county court records as well as library archives in my research. I'm familiar with research engines like LexisNexis, Archive.org, PrivCo, and more.
The New Yorker has a sign hanging in its research department that reads, "True is better than done." I apply this motto to my research, writing, and editing.
