Who Owns This Paragraph? An Ownership Manifest for AI-Drafted Docs
Here is a scenario that repeats in most repositories that let a model write documentation. A pull request adds a runbook section: rotate the API credential, then restart the worker. The diff is clean, the headings match the style guide, and the reviewer approves it in ninety seconds. Six weeks later the steps are wrong. Rotation moved behind a queue, and the text now describes a procedure that no longer exists. Nobody can name the person who was supposed to catch that. The paragraph has an author.

Keep Replay Outcomes Out of the Generated Page
A checkout service documented Idempotency-Key on POST /payments. Overnight, a generator rewrote the page from the OpenAPI description fields. The new paragraph said a repeat call "always returns the original response body." A merchant retried a timeout. The API answered 409 with code: replay_conflict and a short error body, not the first 201. Support quoted the page. Engineering quoted the handler. The page lost. The retry script lost with it.
Register the Heading: What AI May Draft in Docs, and What a Human Must Own
A payments partner voided the same invoice three times. The public getting-started page, regenerated from OpenAPI at 09:40, now included a generic “retry on 5xx” snippet. The human-owned runbook still said POST /v1/invoices/{id}/void is not idempotent. Both texts lived in docs/payments.md. The model did not invent a new policy. It filled a heading that had no owner. That is the failure this article treats. Generated prose is cheap. Ownership is not.
Extract, Draft, Sign: Regen-Safe Lanes for AI Docs
A regenerated README often looks like progress. The install block is tighter. A stale caption disappears. Then a reviewer finds that the same commit also rewrote the security contact, dropped two SLO numbers, and turned a retention rule into a hedge. The model did not sneak those edits. It treated the file as one string. Regeneration without lanes will keep doing that. This article proposes a split you can check in CI: extract, draft, and sign. A model may write only the draft lane.
AI Writes, You Verify: A Documentation Review Pipeline for Skeptics
Last week I deleted a function that had been "documented" by a comment explaining a behavior the function hadn't had in three versions. The comment was confident. The function was gone. This is the real failure mode of AI-generated docs: they can be fluent, plausible, and wrong. Not because the model is bad, but because no human verified what the text claims. The fix isn't to avoid AI. It's to build a checkpoint where the model drafts and the human signs off.
Test-First AI Documentation: A Workflow That Keeps Generated Docs Honest
Hello Glad to see you, I am Kane Lim from Hong Kong. I have over 10 years of development experience. I am writing this because your post was interesting. The strongest idea here is treating documentation as an executable artifact rather than generated prose. I would extend the pipeline with contract testing and AST based signature diffing instead of relying primarily on textual heuristics.
Documenting Code Nobody Remembers: A Git-History Draft Pipeline
A recurring theme in this week's DEV discussions: AI turned every developer into a reviewer, but nobody wrote the contract between the model's draft and the human's sign-off. That gap hurts most in documentation, where the code itself rarely explains the "why." The ticket said: "document the billing module." Six files, zero inline comments, three quiet years in git. Inside proration.py there is a constant, 0.095, that no test explains.
Fuzz Your Agent's Tool Calls Before You Ship: A Reproducible Boundary Test Harness
A few weeks ago I was wiring a small agent to a calendar API and a shell-ish file reader, and I noticed something uncomfortable: my unit tests covered the tools, but nothing covered the boundary — the moment where model output becomes a tool call. That's the seam where prompt injection, argument smuggling, and cross-tool data laundering actually live. Judging by the current wave of agent-security discussion on DEV, I'm not the only one poking at this seam.
Put a Capability Broker Between Your Agent and Its Tools
Agent incidents rarely look like a movie villain. They look like a helpful assistant combining two permissions you never meant to combine: a note-reader that can summarize a folder, plus a messenger that can post to a webhook, plus one poisoned paragraph in a document that says where the notes should go. After writing about prompt changes as migrations, I started treating tool permission the same way: as a reviewed contract, not a vibe in the system prompt.

Longchamp’s woman takes a NY Fashion Week trip to Paris
NEW YORK - Models Kendall Jenner and Liu Wen took a break from the catwalk to sit front row for Longchamp’s second appearance at New York Fashion Week, and creative director Sophie Delafontaine couldn’t have been happier. Delafontaine told The Associated Press she was moved by New York City’s concrete jungle to tell the season’s story of a woman travelling from the Big Apple to Paris. The Longchamp Paris collection is modeled during Fashion Week in New York, Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019.
