My first job as a journalist was as a social media editor, where I focused on covering the social and political landscape in Egypt.

To be a journalist is to be the eye for those who need to see the truth, and the mind for those who need to understand it.
Who do you wish followed you?
I wish to be followed by journalists and researchers interested in the political and social transformations in Egypt and the Middle East, from Egypt, Turkey, and both the Arab and Western worlds.
Why did you become a journalist?
The political landscape of my home country, Egypt, and a personal experience I went through, inspired me to become a journalist. It fueled a desire to deeply understand the complex dynamics of my region and its events.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?
Many people believe that political journalism in the Middle East is limited to simply recounting events. But the truth is, it requires an ability to uncover hidden motives, read between the lines, and connect major political decisions to their human impact.
