The role of electron beam irradiation in tailoring porous carbon fibers for enhanced battery and energy storage applications
The transition to a sustainable future necessitates the development of advanced energy storage systems, including supercapacitors and batteries. Porous carbon fibers (pCFs) are of critical importance in these devices due to their high conductivity, extensive surface area, and robust structural stability. pCFs are used as cathodes in supercapacitors and as cathodes or gas distributors in hydrogen fuel cells, thereby enhancing efficiency and reducing costs.

Influence of the material history on the properties of recycled glass fiber reinforced polypropylene - impact of screw speed during injection molding
The changing properties of thermoplastic injection molding compounds during mechanical recycling complicate their use in structural lightweight engineering applications. Above that, an impact of the often unknown processing history on the recycled materials can be assumed, since it influences the material structure and degradation.

On the deformation and failure of multi-layered composite materials for crash absorbing applications - Focus: tailored interface design
Multi layered composite materials, such as laminated fibre reinforced materials and hybrid metal-polymer composites materials are of increasing interest in all fields of mechanical engineering. The high energy absorption capacity with respect to density qualifies this class of materials especially for high performance lightweight applications which are subjected to crash and impact loading scenarios.

Matrix bondable antistatic additives for fiber reinforced thermosets
For electrostatic coating application or for the use in the electronic industry Sheet Molding Composites (SMC) has to be modified antistatically. By a novel approach several organic monomeric and polymeric ionic substances were incorporated into the duromeric bulk phase by covalent bonds in most cases and tested in terms of their antistatic effectiveness.
