Recent aqueous alteration associated to sedimentary volcanism on Mars - Communications Earth & Environment
Abstract Sedimentary volcanism, whereby material is brought to the surface by fluid overpressure, has been proposed to explain some of the periglacial landforms, including pitted cones, in the Northern Plains of Mars. However, in the absence of convincing mineralogical evidence, the origin for these deposits has never been conclusively determined.

Abstract The Perseverance rover has explored and sampled igneous and sedimentary rocks within Jezero Crater to characterize early Martian geological processes and habitability and search for potential biosignatures1,2,3,4,5,6,7. Upon entering Neretva Vallis, on Jezero Crater’s western edge8, Perseverance investigated distinctive mudstone and conglomerate outcrops of the Bright Angel formation.

Depositional Facies and Sequence Stratigraphy of Kodiak Butte, Western Delta of Jezero Crater, Mars
1 Introduction While Mars is presently cold and arid, several decades of observation have now revealed that water ran freely at its surface during the Noachian and Hesperian epochs (>3.5 Ga), a time when Mars certainly held a warmer and wetter global climate (e.g., Arvidson & Catalano, 2018; Carter et al., 2013; Ehlmann et al., 2011; Grotzinger et al., 2015; Kargel, 2004; Malin & Edgett, 2000; Poulet et al., 2005; Rapin et al., 2021).
Architecture of Fluvial and Deltaic Deposits Exposed Along the Eastern Edge of the Western Fan of Jezero Crater, Mars
1 Introduction Jezero crater (18.5°N, 77.5°E) hosts the landing site of the NASA Mars 2020 mission, which includes the Perseverance rover and the Ingenuity helicopter.

Desiccation cracks provide evidence of lake drying on Mars, Sutton Island member, Murray formation, Gale Crater
Gold Open Access: This paper is published under the terms of the CC-BY license Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) Curiosity rover data are used to describe the morphology of desiccation cracks observed in ancient lacustrine strata at Gale crater, Mars, and to interpret their paleoenvironmental setting. The desiccation cracks indicate subaerial exposure of lacustrine facies in the Sutton Island member of the Murray formation.
Alkali Trace Elements in Gale Crater, Mars with ChemCam: Calibration Update and Geological Implications
The ChemCam instrument onboard Curiosity can detect minor and trace elements such as lithium, strontium, rubidium, and barium. Their abundances can provide some insights about Mars’ magmatic history and sedimentary processes. We focus on developing new quantitative models for these elements using a new laboratory database (more than 400 samples) that displays diverse compositions that are more relevant for Gale crater than the previous ChemCam database.
