Why did you become a journalist?

Enormous curiosity.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

No.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Teaching composition classes at area colleges. Interviewing people for articles.

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

NY Times, Washington Post, New Yorker, Oprah, Martha Stewart, Kinfolk, any big, fat, beautiful expensive European lifestyle magazine.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

I'm freelance.
