Doing the Real Work
I learned how to cook this off-season. Like most people, I had a lot of free time on my hands during quarantine. My only big obligations were to work out on my own and stay in football shape, and to be there for my wife, Parker, who works as a nurse in the labor and delivery unit at a hospital here in Los Angeles. Â I don’t know how to swim, but that was the least of my worries.

My mom broke down in tears as soon as she saw it. Whether it was heat being cut off, or the water, it always seemed like it was one problem after another. And she was hurting. She went to her room.
