Corporate tax responsiveness varies across countries—and that heterogeneity matters for global coordination
Corporate tax policy is increasingly shaped by multilateral coordination. The OECD/G20 global minimum tax, for example, establishes a common statutory floor intended to limit profit shifting and reduce harmful tax competition. But even when countries adopt similar tax rules, firms may respond to those rules differently. Understanding those differences is essential for interpreting the economic effects of coordinated corporate tax policy.

Does Market Power Encourage or Discourage Investment? Evidence from the Hospital Market
Abstract Does market power encourage or discourage investment? This is an open question due to theoretical ambiguity and empirical difficulties. The answer is particularly important in the hospital market, where market power has increased dramatically since the 1990s. To answer this, we exploit an investment tax shock and data on the universe of US hospitals. We find a negative relationship between competition and investment.
Analyzing the Aftermath of a Compensation Reduction
Overview — This study reports the effects of compensation cuts in a large sales organization. Results help to clarify managers’ implicit constraints, and provide a unique lens for analyzing the link between compensation schemes, worker performance, and turnover. Wage rigidity creates real and financial frictions, though the real-world drivers of rigidities remain largely unstudied. We use staggered commission reductions at a sales firm to estimate effects on worker turnover and effort.
