In the nearly one hundred years since its publishing, many have tried, and in my humble opinion, failed, to appropriately adapt F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby for the screen: the 1926 silent film was lost, the 1949 adaptation is incoherent and barely follows the book, the 1974 version is plain boring, and the 2013 film gave us the You Belong With Me fan video and not much else. It’s baffling how this book, which seems so fitting for the screen, hasn’t received a proper adaptation.
