CSR as Insurance: Investigating the Theory with Emotional Data
Keywords CSR, insurance, emotional data, strategy theory College David O. McKay School of Education Department Educational Leadership and Foundations Abstract The purpose of this project was to investigate the impact of emotional data on strategy theory, and explore the potential of using natural language processing to obtain meaningful insights from the emotional content of written text.
Combined Trajectory, Propulsion and Battery Mass Optimization for Solar-Regenerative High-Altitude Long-Endurance Aircraft
Abstract This thesis presents the work of two significant projects. In the first project, a suite of benchmark problems for grid energy management are presented which demonstrate several issues characteristic to the dynamic optimization of these systems. These benchmark problems include load following, cogeneration, tri-generation, and energy storage, and each one assumes perfect foresight of the entire time horizon.

AI can be trusted to take our 911 calls
Your first reaction is probably no, but you should reconsider, and here’s why. 911 call centers are overwhelmed and have changed significantly since their introduction 50 years ago. Today, a long wait time could prove fatal in a life or death situation. With AI analyzing calls and texts, they can save lives by reducing wait times for urgent calls. Let’s first look at how this process works. Natural Language Processing (NLP) is a type of AI.

"Dynamic Optimization of High-Altitude Solar Aircraft Trajectories Unde" by Abe Martin, Nathaniel S. Gates et al.
Keywords HALE, UAV, Drone, Trajectory, MPC, Optimization, Solar Abstract This paper demonstrates the use of nonlinear dynamic optimization to calculate energy optimal trajectories for a high-altitude, solar-powered Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). The objective is to maximize the total energy in the system while staying within a 3 km mission radius and meeting other system constraints.
How Agile Development Principles Accelerate AI Initiatives
Data scientist teams are becoming increasingly frustrated with their AI initiatives. Organizations often underestimate the data effort involved in AI projects and place data scientists under tremendous time pressure and oftentimes unrealistic expectations. These strategic data projects are exploratory, high-visibility, and high-risk, and it’s unlikely there’s a perfect solution at the end. There is a strong desire to accelerate delivery and reduce risk, or even get AI projects back on track.
