Interview

What does it mean to be a journalist?

Constantly striving.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Pen, pencil, and paper. Once the copy is ready on paper, I type it up on and submit via Google Docs.

What's your favorite social network?

None. They're all poison. Necessary, yes, but bad for the mind and bad for the soul.

Why did you become a journalist?

Writing is my calling. I did not choose it; it chose me.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

Ha, I did! I started off as a news writer, became the arts editor, and eventually co-editor-in-chief.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Find a job in journalism that's protected by a union.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Snuggling with my dog.
