High-speed chase in Naples leads to arrest of burglary suspects
NAPLES, Fla. — Suspects led sheriff’s deputies in Collier County on a 100-miles-per hour chase through the streets of Naples this weekend. It began when a resident of Gulfshore Apartments off Pine Ridge Road called 911 after seeing someone break into cars. That led to the high-speed chase and two suspects from Broward County in jail. “It kinda upsets me a little bit,” said Gulfshore resident Wally Fredrickson.

Naples hopes revitalized Design District becomes unique destination
NAPLES, Fla. — Naples leaders recently unveiled their plan to revitalize an area of the city they hope becomes its newest hot spot. At a public meeting at Fleischmann Park, the city released its master plan for an area called the Design District. Leaders hope the area near downtown will be a new destination with a unique vibe that sets it apart. “There are a lot of mom and pop shops here locally, some really cool boutiques — a lot of business that are centered toward the creative,” Amy Jensen said.
Collier EMS says it needs more first responders to keep up with volume
NAPLES, Fla. — Collier County Emergency Medical Services says it needs more paramedics and EMTs to take pressure of its staff as the county continues its rapid growth. EMS officials say they need 12 additional full-time employees to continue to respond to emergencies throughout the county. The volume of emergency calls EMS receives has gone up 14 percent over the past two years. Right now, these paramedics and EMTs are working overtime to cover the demand.
