During the afternoon and evening of December 9, 2023, severe storms developed across Middle Tennessee ahead of a strong cold frontal passage. Three primary supercell tracks affected portions of the mid state that eventually spawned 7 tornadoes. Both the Clarksville and Nashville metro areas were hard-hit. The strongest of these tornadoes was an EF-3 that touched down near Clarksville and stayed on the ground for more than an hour, eventually crossing into Kentucky.
