Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes, and it was horrifyingly hard. My employer was laughing because I couldn't use a typewriter, but I could type so fast.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
Kent Brockman. He's the epitome of a jaded journalist; and what not be.
Why did you become a journalist?
Because I love to hear stories, and help tell stories. I love the humanity that can be exposed with words. It is a true art.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I was a copywriter and then an editor. I'm lucky to have known what I wanted to do with my life early, so I loved it.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
The more you learn, the better journalist you'll be. So never stop learning and growing.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Playing video games with my family.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
That gaming is just for boys, or just for any certain type of person. Gaming can open doors and build bridges.
