Dear Editor, A novel coronavirus, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), which causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), was declared a pandemic in 2020. It is generally agreed that the inflammatory cytokine storm, which causes systemic inflammation leading to multiple organ failures, is an important pathogenic mechanism in severe cases of COVID-19 [1].
